Fan Mail, 1989

January 17, 1989

Dearest Ted,
I just heard the worst possible news a few hours ago (about the warrant being signed). I was totally shocked because I hadn’t expected this until next week- the governor’s office gave me the wrong date.
I am extremely distraught right now. I don’t know how I am going to live with this.
I’m far too upset to say too much at the moment, but I wanted to make sure you get this in time.
Ted, I want you to remember that I’ll be there right beside you when you go to meet your destiny. I love you and I just want you to know how much you mean to me and have changed my life.

An amusing collection of the oddball "fan mail" Ted received in January, 1989.

House arrest at a girl's camp may not be a good idea. It could aggravate his condition. It could aggravate the girls too 😂

Joy Mulvaney

Inez the socialist had 150 electric shock treatments.

Yup! And then there was Janet….how can we not forget about Janet! She showed up at a lot of Ted’s trials- fan-girling over him, trying to send him messages. Of course him of all people was creeped out!

Christina Gagnon

wow Hybristophilia is a real thing

Michael Clark

You may have and I overlooked it. I was skimming through them and reading bits and pieces of each.

I think he messed up the date, since it was January a lot of people do that. All the others are from Jan 89. I have more Sam Wilson letters, did I not post those?

Tiffany J.

That's an interesting letter from Sam Wilson. Wilson states that Bundy asked him to find out Elizabeths Kloepfer's current last name. Wilson then claimed to know her current last name but wouldn't provide it to Bundy because he didn't want to be his "informant". Then Wilson asked Ted to will him every letter he had in his possession. That letter was dated January 1988.

I wasn’t even sure about posting these because I didn’t know if anyone would find them interesting. Glad to hear you enjoyed them! House arrest at a girls camp 🫣

Tiffany J.

Ha, no, and he didn’t respond to any of them as far as I know. He didn’t even get them until a few days before his execution. Poor Dawn from Canada.

Tiffany J.

I’m curious did Ted ever call Dawn? ( She sounds like a MASSIVE FANGIRL!!!) Did Ted respond back to every one of these letters?

Christina Gagnon

I wonder if Chucky Gibbs is still selling dope.

This is by far the best find ever! Ted is not the only puzzle in this case—the media, the survivors, the witnesses and these “bit” players who just so want to be part of the drama, are to me the real subjects of fascination. The letter describing Ted’s lawyer as on the take is priceless! I read everyone of these and that is my favorite.
