Fairview Canyon Night Drive

Last week, I returned to the Debra Kent burial site near Fairview, Utah. With special permission from the ranch's owner, my friend Dave and I drove the dirt road into the Fairview Canyon property again, this time after sunset.

The absence of moonlight created eerily similar conditions to the night Bundy crept up that same road, largely unchanged after 50 years. I could imagine the chugging engine and round yellow headlights of the VW illuminating the juniper trees and ancient weathered fence posts. I, too, stumbled over the barbed wire in the dark, and imagined how the killer must have dropped Debra Kent's limp body as he fell. I hoped that the ultrafine, sandy soil clung to his eyelashes and stung his eyes even more than it did mine. I saw my friend's shadow suddenly loom behind me and flinched, thinking about Debra's last moments and praying that her fear was brief.

It was an emotional, haunting experience. Back at the car, I meditated on my sadness, feeling like I may have walked over poor Debi's bones, cold and lonely in the ground. Shivering as I waited for Dave to unlock the doors so we could leave, I suddenly thought to look up. Splashed across the pitch-dark sky were the most dazzling stars I had ever seen. A soft breeze rustled the fragrant juniper branches, and in that moment, I remembered that she is free.

That was chilling, with how dark it was, and the only thing illuminating the area were headlights combined with HIS VOICE as if he were guiding you from the back seat or something. I was wishing and hoping that something would happen to point you in the right direction of exactly where she is. Such a chillingly quiet and lonely place to be I hope she's resting in peace it breaks my heart that she's up there by herself. Thank you for paying respects.

Awwww!!! That’s so sad!!! I’ve dreamt about his victims before..,Georgeann & Janice, they were telling me something. It was strange!

I agree. It was an extremely haunting experience. I had a nightmare later that night.

Hearing his voice & watching this where he once was, makes me get this MASSIVE chill down my spine. It’s still very tragic that after 50 years her body is still gone & he refers her body as “it.”

Lovely.

The look on your face is identical to one on mine standing in a gas chamber at Auschwitz thinking of all the people who suffered and died there. I think it would be the look we'd have if we saw a ghost.

Excellent contribution to this sordid story!

Very eerie. It's one thing to hear him recall all this - and another to see the site in person, but combining the two really adds gravity to it all. Great job as always

Thank you so much for all your amazing and absolutely fantastic work ad resaerch!! Thank you so much for posting this video and this lovely tribute and respects to Debra Kent! it was so eery to see the place where she is buried and what it looked like in the dark. To be in the same area and to see it, it is just so ….am lost for words what he did to her (and to all of the other victims). Its emotional seeing this and ihaunting. How terrible and pray she didn´t suffer. I believe the stars you saw and the breeze was her way of letting you know you are with her and her way of saying thank you and she is ok now. Thank you so much again! Truly ! Your work is beyond words!! Huge hugs and loads of love to you. xxx
