A collection of interesting letters from concerned citizens, sent to Seattle Police Captain Herb Swindler in the fall of 1974.
One is from Wesley "Red" Millet, a former Utah resident and retired Seattle police detective. He astutely observed the similarity between the Lake Sammamish "Ted" sketch and the mustachioed suspect in the Debra Kent abduction in Salt Lake. Besides Liz's conversations with the King County Task Force two weeks prior, Red Millet may have been the first to make this connection. Of course, his tip would later prove correct.
In another letter from September 1974, a rather stunning coincidence emerges. A woman from New Jersey wrote in after reading about the Seattle disappearances in the Philedelphia newspapers. She described "a boy named Ted" who wouldn't leave her daughter alone-- and "his last name is Budney or Bundy or something similar."
