Tessa Ch. 02 - Reflection

Look! I wrote another part of the story I promise you all months ago! All jokes aside, I promise I've been doing my best to stay on top of this, but it happens to coincide with an incredibly busy writing period for me. I won't go into the details, as this is a piece about the story, not my writing schedule.

We're back with our sassy little witch! With this side series, as the stakes are inherently pretty small, it's always interesting taking time to explore the more routine parts of Tessa's life. I enjoy showcasing the different ways that her and Raine organize their bedroom, it's just one of a dozen details that I've been happy to give Tessa's apartment.

I'm also quite proud of the relatively quick segment in which Tessa rummages through her old things. It passes so quickly, but I put a lot of work into the items we see in her old shoeboxes. After all, I've pretty thoroughly shown Tessa as a crass, no-nonsense punk chick, and there haven't been many chances to see a more intimate side of her. What does a girl like that keep hidden in her closet? What significance does she give seemingly random objects from her past? My hope was that everything we see her dig through would be a bit of insight into the type of person Tessa really is behind the mask, so hopefully some of you caught that :P

After a quick brush with Raine, who hopefully didn't see the magic journal, we get another hint of their big night! I teased this last time as well, and we'll be visiting these plans in much greater details later in this chapter.

We then finally get to dig into Tessa investigating the campus. I've heard a few folks say that they want some more details about how the magic works, and I'll admit I struggle with how to do that. At a certain point, the ideas at play grow so abstract that details are hard to provide. Still, if nothing else, I wanted to try and show how Tessa interacts with her magic on a practical scale. She needs to hide her tattoos when they glow, and there's a lot of pretty boring manual labor that goes into magical research. She's literally just wandering Lysander Hall almost all day, randomly touching things to look for magic.

Personally, I think it's fascinating to take a character like Tessa and stick her with the magic that most resembles a boring 9-5 day job. She's doing research, making charts, wasting hours looking for tiny clues without any idea what she's looking for, things like that. I think it's a fun contrast to her personality, and how she presents herself for everyone else.

Of course, we also get tiny hints about her Coven, and her feelings about it. This is something I have plans for, so I'm not going to give away too much, but it's nice to flesh out her history a bit.

And finally, we end our scene with the return of everyone's least favorite stalker! That's right, you thought Brandon was just going to politely listen to a girl's request to leave her alone? Personally, I like to think that his actions in the main series reinforce his actions here, and vice verse. He's only got so many tricks up his sleeve, and we know he's nothing if not persistent.

Our last scene, for better or worse, I don't have a lot to say about. The most exciting thing is that I got to write another group sex scene, and this was far more consensual than the scene at the end of Book Two. I love writing scenes between romantic partners, and it's something I haven't been able to do in the main series. Here, not only do I get to write that, but I also get to show a very queer and very kinky sex scene.

I'm constantly aware of the irony at play in how frequently I write straight sex scenes. I'm a huge lesbian, but realistically Amara and Tessa have only fuck liked, three or four times on screen. Thankfully, Tessa's polycule gave me the perfect chance to share a really unique scene. I love writing kink play, but it's honestly something I've barely gotten any chances to do. Kink is something that feels easier to introduce after all parties have gotten comfortable with sex, and Amara's been way too busy to start breaking out the whips and chains. Here, as the polycule is clearly so comfy with each other, I knew I wanted to play around with a few kinky ideas.

We've mostly got bondage and wax play, but the fact that it's also a threesome makes it all the hotter. I really hope this was an enjoyable scene for everyone! It's certainly the queerest thing I've ever written, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous about that.

Fun aside, but I actually got a comment on Literotica recently that someone feels my queer sex scenes are more vibrant than my straight sex scenes, and it really interested me. Obviously I can't look at this objectively, but it made me wonder if my lesbianism found a way to creep into my writing after all. Anyways, I really hope you enjoyed this chapter!
