Suddenly A Succubus Ch. 12 - Reflection

This is gonna be a bit of a shorter reflection, mostly because I think this chapter does a good job of speaking for itself. 

The important beat I wanted to hit was that Nick and Amara have a genuine concern for Vee, and are putting together a plan to do something about it. The most important thing I want to stress will always be that these people are friends, they care about each other, and they want what's best for each other.

Nick's idea for Amara's costume was an idea I came up super early on, I LOVE when people hide in plain sight, and ending my first book with a Halloween party was too perfect to pass up.

After our very fun sex scene, where we confirm that Amara's strength really has been growing, we move up to the roof for something much quieter. This scene was added at the last minute, my original outline had pretty much no ideas for this chapter other than "Nick puts together a cool costume."

It's funny, then, with how crucial I think this last scene ended up being. I love the quiet moments between characters, and even though this hasn't been a very action packed book, we've never really seen Amara this introspective. I had people in my early chapters mention that Amara didn't seem worried about the possible implications of her transformation, but to me, she's just not the type to worry about things until she can see tangible effects. In my experience, people don't always feel like they're changing, it happens so gradually. Especially when it's dwarfed by the much more dramatic changes like tails and wings.

I'm really happy I gave us a chance to check in with Nick and Amara before the final chapter. It's a lovely, intimate scene, and I think it sets the stage beautifully for what's on the horizon.
