A thing that I love is that Bessie is in the show, but didn’t notice for a while. The Ladies in Waiting are named after actual ladies who served the various queens. The base player is Bessie Blount. I love watching the band because they often have little bits where they do head movements or such. I love it!

Anne Boleyn was British but apparently educated in France?, Anne of Cleves was indeed German, and Jane Seymour, Katherine Howard, and Katherine Parr were British. I'm sure you'll find yourself dancing in most of the songs regardless, it's a pretty cool musical. I'm hoping to see you reacting to Dear Evan Hansen or Hadestown as well someday! (Ideally the songs from the og musical and not the movie haha)

2024-07-27 04:27:06 +0000 UTCSix is relatively new (if time means anything post-2020)--Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss wrote it back in 2016-2017 or so; it premiered in 2017 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and opened on the West End in 2019. It was actually in previews on Broadway when everything shut down for the Pandemic in 2020 and i want to say it was one of the first shows to re-open, since it has a small cast and simpler staging thanks to the concert concept, making it easier to do safely, back then. Plus, it had quite a bit of hype around it already thanks to the previous productions in England, so was likely seen as a 'safer bet' (a lot of other shows, sadly, didn't weather that hiatus as well).

Katherine of Aragon is Beyoncé (powerful, assertive, royal-like), Anne Boleyn is Avril Lavigne (playful, cheeky, rebellious), Jane Seymour is Adele (confident, sincere, heartfelt), Anne of Cleves is Niki Minaj (confident, bold, unapologetic), Catherine Howard is Ariana Grande (flirtatious, youthful, glamorous), and Kateryn Parr is Alicia Keys (wise, thoughtful, strong)

Henry actually had other mistresses before her, including Mary Boleyn (Anne's sister) and Bessie Blount (who did actually have a son with him, Henry FitzRoy, and is likely the one being referred to here). Catherine of Aragon seriously had so much patience to put up with that nonsense for as long as she did.

A fun musical fun fact i feel like you’d enjoy - each queen is modelled after a different iconic, contemporary pop queen. This will affect the style of their song, their vocal abilities, and even sometimes lyrical content. Catherine of aragon parallels Beyoncé, with her feminist, strong-willed lyrics and amazing voice :)) I’d tell you who each of the other queens is modelled after, but i think it would be more fun to let you make some educated guesses based off what you pick up from their songs 🤭 excited for this journey!!
