June 2024 Update

Greetings everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful time, and that you find something special that makes you smile today. Around here, we've been getting some lovely spring weather, I've been taking long walks with my dog, and generally just enjoying that the air doesn't hurt my face anymore.

More importantly, I'm coming to you with a few very special announcements!

First and foremost, Happy Pride Month! It's a time to celebrate love, diversity, and rainbows, so I hope you're all just as excited as I am. I realize that I'm not always the most talkative here, but this is a really special time for me. I'm a trans woman, I'm a lesbian, and I'm polyamorous, but it took a long while to figure that out. My identity means a lot to me, and it's something that inspires quite a bit of my writing. I'm so happy that you're all along for this ride, and I'm thrilled you've found my work enjoyable enough to support me.

June is also my birthday month! Woo! Honestly, I've never been much of a birthday person, but it's still pretty cool that I get to celebrate during Pride.

By sheer coincidence, on top of all of that, this month also begins my departure from the full-time workforce! That's right, for the last several years, I've been putting in 40+ hours a week at a day job, and it's been a bit of a damper on my writing. I've been lucky to put out 2 chapters a month, but thankfully I managed to stick with it! However, the winds of change are blowing, and I don't need to put in a full work week in order to keep the lights on anymore. With that in mind, I now have a bunch of extra time to do whatever I want!

So, what do I want?

Well, about a month ago I posed a question to all my lovely patrons; what can I do to say thanks? I floated a few possibilities, as did some of you, and some of them really stuck with me. The one I'm most excited for? I'm planning on writing a small collection of short stories, all set in the Suddenly A Succubus universe, meant to flesh out smaller parts of the story. I have a few pieces that don't really fit into the main series, but are still ideas I want to bring to life, and this is the perfect way to do that. The first story I'm planning will focus on Tessa, finally giving her a bit of time in the limelight, while also giving us a better look into our snarky witch's life.

These stories are meant to flesh out characters, add depth to the world, and enrich the story that already exists. They will not be crucial to understanding the main plot of SaS, so if you don't get around to reading them, that's okay!

"But Nyx!" I hear you saying, "With all this extra free time, surely you can manage more than just a couple extra short stories!"

Why, you savvy reader, you're absolutely right! That brings me to my most exciting announcement of the day.

I've started a new book!

This new project is completely unrelated to Suddenly A Succubus. In fact, I'm going to be writing in a pre-existing setting that was pioneered by another author! The "Becoming Monsters" world was created by AiLoves a few years back, and is now being managed by OtterlyMindblowing. It's a LitRPG setting in which, several years ago, everyone on our world was suddenly given a video game Class, and roughly a third of the population saw their Race change to some kind of fantasy creature.

There are already a small handful of stories in this world, written by the authors I've mentioned above, and I recommend checking them out if you have the time. These stories often focus on people trying to adapt to their new lives, as well as the new status quo of the world.

I'm very excited to start branching out, and I've got a really great story I'm itching to put to paper. Keep your eyes peeled for the imminent release of "Becoming Monsters: Blood & Chlorophyll", hitting shelves this month! (The shelves are a metaphor for... I dunno, your phone I guess? Your computer? Your smart fridge? Whatever your preferred smut delivery method is.)

What does this new story mean for my Patreon? Well, Suddenly A Succubus will always be my number one priority. If life happens to grow a bit hectic, SaS will continue posting twice a month, but my new story might slow its release schedule a bit. Best case scenario? All my work gets two updates a month, meaning a new release every week! With that in mind, though, I'm still adjusting to the cadence of my new life, so I'm not going to promise anything concrete. I'll release chapters when they feel ready, at which point they'll follow the same release schedule as always; higher tiered patrons get the rough drafts first, and they go live two weeks later, before hitting the free sites two weeks after that.

The SaS: Side Stories will be released whenever they're ready. I'm still in the early stages of outlining them, and I don't have a set release schedule yet. They'll function as a tertiary project, essentially, but I'll try to keep everyone updated as Tessa's story comes together.

So, yeah. A lot of really exciting things on the horizon.

Can you all keep a secret? I'm really enjoying being an author. Like, a LOT. I have a bunch of ideas for other books I want to write, not to mention everything I'm already working on. Did you know I already have books 3 and 4 of Suddenly A Succubus outlined? Now you do!

Oh, and as a last bit of housekeeping, I'll probably be making a new "Welcome to Patreon" post to pin to the top of my page soon. This will be aimed more at the new visitors, so if you're an existing reader, feel free to skip that one :P

Anyways, thanks for sticking around for this somewhat lengthy blog post. You're the best!
