Suddenly A Succubus Ch. 17 - Reflection

This chapter is, in my mind at least, a pretty big turning point for Amara. (Have I said that before? I feel like I have, but I'm too lazy to check my previous reflections. Sorry if I'm being repetitive!) Almost all of the first book, and even the first few chapters of this book, have positioned Amara as a pretty reactive presence. Which, to be fair, I think fits really well given the situation, since there's a lot she doesn't know. For this book, however, I wanted to stress that Amara is growing more comfortable with herself, and I wanted to give her problems that she needs to be proactive about.

If she does nothing, the cult gets to do whatever they want, Mr. Luxnor keeps abusing his situation and sleeping with a student, and Derek gets away with quite a bit. Well, conveniently, this chapter tackles a little bit of everything!

The whole first section is mainly focused around the reveal of Derek's history. I'm pretty sure no one is going to be surprised about what happened, but it's definitely the type of event that's going to push Amara's buttons. This scene actually went through a couple different iterations, mostly revolving around changing the location. In the end, I'm really happy with this being set outside, and it lets me really focus on the spectacle of Amara punching a dent in the brick wall. In spite of everything that's happened, her anger is still alive and kicking, but this time we get to see Nick's reaction. When I was first outlining this scene, I realized that he's never really seen Amara get this angry before, which ended up being a great character beat for them both.

Then, of course, we get to the meat of this chapter. I'm fairly certain this is the porniest chapter I've written so far, and when it goes live to Literotica, I'm expecting it to be one of my more popular chapters. This whole scene is actually something I envisioned really early in the writing process, like way back in the first book. I was thinking of neat situations that might come up with Amara's aura reading abilities, and thought of this scene where she impersonates Kylie.

I haven't measured, but I'm pretty sure this is also one of my longer sex scenes. It was an absolute blast to write, and I hope it was equally enjoyable to read. I kinda feel like I should say more, but honestly it's just a really hot scene and not too much happens other than the fucking.

At least, not until we get to the last scene. Amara's been playing it safe with her feeding ever since Halloween, but I can't keep writing this series with a Succubus at half strength, can I? I always love writing details about her feeding process and what it does to her, especially since it gives me another tool to play with during sex scenes. I've been teasing some of her abilities for a while, and this was the perfect chance to start playing with some reveals. I've pretty frequently described the way her senses grow as 'a feeling of connection with the world around her' and I'm really pleased with that description. It's a little vague, I know, but it has a lot of neat applications. For this scene, while her increased energy does cause her to bounce off the walls a little, it also further enhances her vision past the normal human range. Will other abilities come from this? Only time will tell :P

I also get another chance for Amara to playing around with cooking, which I'm thinking is going to be a pretty consistent thing with her now. It's something I'm utterly fascinated with, and I really think it adds a fun dimension to her character.

Sadly, the cleaning and cooking does nothing to curb her energy levels, and she finally resolves to head back to the Jade Palace. This whole addition, including the teaser back when she was hanging with Chloé earlier in the book, was a pretty late change to the outline. Originally, her help was going to be limited to running the social media pages of the charity, and I'm really glad I didn't stick with that idea.

Actually, everything with the charity was originally a lesser presence in the first outline. It's definitely one of my favorite additions, it fits so well with the theme of this particular book, and it really drives home Amara's mindset. Plus, y'know, more time with Chloé <3

In the end, I had a blast envisioning Amara working through her issues while a minor storm builds up around her. This would make a great scene in a movie or TV show or whatever. I also got to sneak in some more details about where her strength is currently at, as she failed to lift the dumpster. This is something I try to do somewhat regularly, as it help paint a picture of her overall abilities.

I got to set a lot of fun things in motion this chapter! What is Amara gonna do with that sex tape? What's that dang ol' cult up to? I can't wait to share ;)
