July 2024 Update
Added 2024-07-09 17:00:08 +0000 UTCWelcome to July everyone! I hope you're all enjoying your summer, I know I am. It's been pretty toasty in my area, and I think this heat wave is hitting most of the US. If you're in the States, please make sure to drink lots of water and find someplace cool to relax. If you're not in the States, unfortunately I'm not familiar with the weather patterns across the globe, but hopefully you've got more comfortable weather than we do.
I normally try to get these updates out closer to the start of the month, but I was a little busy with the holiday. I was out of state, and couldn't really find the time for various pieces of upkeep. I was able to avoid a disruption of my actual content, which was nice, so I wasn't too worried about this.
Now, if you recall, June was my very first month away from my old job! I'm pleased to report that it was an amazing month. I got so much done, and I've discovered that writing a chapter a week is actually a very comfortable goal to hit. I even had a week where I got two chapters done, but that was partially to prepare for some busy days at the end of June. Thankfully, this means that I'll be able to keep up with releasing Blood & Chlorophyll twice a month, which I'm very excited for. The earlier chapters were a little slower, I had a lot of setting up to do, but Alicia and Katrina are finally going to start hitting some plot and I couldn't be happier about it. I really hope you're all enjoying this new series of mine, I'm thrilled to have a chance to step outside Suddenly A Succubus for a little bit.
Speaking of my flagship series, how's that going? Well, the main series is going to continue as normal, but I'm pleased to announce that I have started working on Tessa's short spin-off story. My tentative goal is to have the first chapter out by the end of July! I've still got some more outlining to do, and I'm really taking my time with this one. I want to make sure it serves as a worthy companion piece to SaS, without detracting from the experience at all. What do I mean by that? Well, have you ever watched a sequel or a prequel to a story you love, and it just felt bland and lifeless? Like, all it did was bring back stuff you love, without bothering to do anything interesting with it? I'm trying very hard to avoid that. It would be easy to write a piece that simply answers some outstanding plot questions without adding any interesting character dynamics or world elements. I'll have more to say about this, in detail, when I write my Reflections pieces about the spin-off.
I also need to figure out what day to release it on. I've been sticking with my MWF release schedule, and I love how clean it looks. With the spin-off, do I release on a Tuesday or Thursday? Should I pick a different day and double up on content? These are the kind of hard hitting questions I'm tackling behind the scenes. You might also notice that it doesn't matter at all, and I'm simply overcomplicating things by wanting a pretty looking release calendar.
I mentioned last time that I was going to make a new "Welcome to Patreon" post to pin to the top of my page, and I've since decided against that. Instead, I overhauled my "About" section to give a bird's eye view of my release schedule, and the state of all the different sites I post on. I'm now consistently posting on three different sites, but they all work a little differently. My AO3 profile is completely up to date with all my work, as posting there is quick and easy. My ScribbleHub page is going well, I love the site, but I have enough of a backlog that it's going to be several months before I'm caught up there. I'm also going to wait to post Blood & Chlorophyll until there's more of it. My Literotica profile is mostly up to date, but I'm having some issues posting the second chapter of B&C. Everything that is submitted to their site goes through a review process, and this time it's taking a little longer than normal.
All in all, this month's update is relatively small. I have no big news like last time, and it's mostly just business as normal. If you're reading this, I want to thank you so much for giving me your time. I've gotten so much wonderful support from so many fantastic people, and it truly means the world to me. I'm happy you're all enjoying my work, and I hope I continue to deliver the best literature I can!
