Suddenly A Succubus Publication Details

Hello my lovelies!

As the publication date for Suddenly A Succubus draws near, I wanted to set some time aside to run you through exactly what to expect from this book. I've changed quite a few things, but in the end, it's still the same story you know and love. So, without further ado:

The original version of the book that was published for free online had 78,410 words, split among thirteen chapters. The version that I'm publishing has 85,615!

Now, at first glance, it would be easy to assume that I've simply added 7,205 words to the story, but that's not the case. I also deleted 2,220 words from the original version. This means that the official release has almost 10,000 words of new content.

So what's different?

I've removed two scenes from the book: Nick alone at his grandparents' house (Beginning of Chapter 4) and the flashback at the start of Chapter 13.

In their place, I've added several new scenes to give Amara more time with her friends. Her scene with Vee at the start of Chapter 2 has been slightly altered and given more room to breath, and it's followed by a new scene of Amara spending time with Tessa and her polycule.

Since Chapter 4 no longer starts with Nick's scene, we instead have an entire scene of Amara spending time with Chloé.

Those are the most substantial changes, but I've also made small tweaks to nearly every part of the book. There's more connective tissue, more depth to the campus, and the prose is overall more engaging. I've corrected as many grammatical errors as I could find, and hopefully that means the book is completely perfect! (I doubt it, I'm sure some will manage to sneak into the final release.)

I'm not going to provide an in-depth list of literally everything I've changed, especially since there are a lot of very small details, but I really do feel like this is the definitive edition of the book.

I'll also be adding Chapter Titles!

1. The Morning After

2. A Demonic Discovery

3. Collegiate Complications

4. A Week Off

5. Alone in the Basement

6. Turbulence

7. Out of Body

8. Playing with Fire

9. Tangled Assumptions

10. Snares & Sulfur

11. Exposed

12. Masks

13. Halloween

I'm happy with the titles, I think they're fun and descriptive and add a nice layer of organization to the whole affair.

Right now, I'm aiming for a release date of 1/31/2025. I'm still finalizing the files so everything will look good in print and eBook, and I also want to put the book up at least a week early for preorders, if not earlier.

Unless outside factors change this, the paperwork version will be priced at $14.99 and the eBook version will be $4.99.

I don't think there's much else to say at the moment. Feel free to ask any questions you like about the publication process, the final version of the book, or anything else you feel is relevant. I'm always happy to chat with everyone, and I want to do everything I can to keep this whole process clean and simple.

Comments

Primarily through Amazon, but I'm hoping to set up a bunch of other storefronts as well. I'm working with Draft2Digital to do a wide release, and I'm not 100% sure which sites they partner with.

Where is the book going to be for sale? Amazon? Itchio?

Suinicide

Thanks! And no, there won't be any strange plot developments that make future books confusing. There might be elements of the story that get introduced differently (E.g. Kylie shows up in Book One, now) but that won't affect anything moving forward.

Will we need to reread anything to understand anything that happens later on? I assume no, but safer to ask. Also congratulations on getting this far in the publication process. You're almost there!
