April Update

Spring is almost here! I'm thrilled the weather is finally starting to warm up, and I can't wait to start taking long walks in the summer sun again. However, before that can happen, I suppose I should let you know what's going on around here, yeah?

Suddenly A Succubus Book Three has finally wrapped up. The last chapter went live on all my free sites last week, and it's time to finally start looking forward. Patrons already have the start of Book Four, and Beta Readers have already gotten some interesting peeks at some upcoming revelations.

Friendly reminder, but Book Four is going to be the climax of the first act of the overall series. It's going to feel a little bit like a mini-finale it its own right, and I've got some suitably exciting things planned for Amara and her friends.

Speaking of my Beta Readers, they've also got the third chapter of Tessa's side story. I apologize for the wait on this one, I honestly hit a little bit of a weird block, but I'm all better now! I'll be starting on Chapter Four right away, but I'm not sure if that's going to be the last chapter or not. It probably is, but there's always a chance that I end up needing a fifth.

Blood & Chlorophyll continues chugging along as well. We've welcomed a new adventurer to our band of delvers, but her troubled past is raising some concerns as well. I'm excited to get to the end of the book, and I think Roxy is a really interesting addition to the gang.

I don't think B&C will be finishing this month, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see it finished in May.

On a personal note, I've shuffled around my work-life balance a little bit. For those of you that have been following me for a while, you know that I'm still working part time, as I don't quite make enough to support myself entirely on my writing yet. On that note, I've actually switched to a different part time job, one that provides some more reliable income. I don't think this will affect my writing output, but if it does, I'll absolutely be sure to let you know.

Honestly, in a perfect world, the extra money from the new job might give me a chance to do some fun things here on Patreon, but I won't share any details yet.

One thing I mentioned in my last update was that I had entered a short story contest. It went really well! I'm really happy with the story I wrote, and it pushed me to try some new things. I really want to share it here with all you lovely people, but the rules of the contest say that I can't share my entry on any public sites. The results of the contest are released in May, so for now, fingers crossed that I win.

However, there was a pretty interesting side effect to joining the contest. Firstly, it really opened my eyes to how fun short stories can be. I tend to prefer longer, character driven narrative that allow us to spend lots of time with people we like, so it was an interesting change of pace to stick to a 2,000 word maximum. Secondly, before the contest started, they held a small workshop to get everyone warmed up. In that workshop, they gave out a couple of example prompts, and one of them really stuck with me.

As soon as I find the time, I'm going to be writing another short story based on that prompt. Ideally, I would love to get to that this month, but I'm not going to make any promise in case I get busy with other things.

If it goes well, especially if you all end up enjoying it, there's always a chance I might do more short story one-offs in the future.

As with all my projects, I promise that this little short story tangent won't detract from my normal writing schedule. This is simply the latest example of me having too many writing ideas, and trying to find ways to bring them all into existence.

Anyways, I hope you're all doing well! Thanks for sticking with me, as always, and I look forward to another exciting month!

On the topic of short stories: If you write them, I'm sure all of us here would love to read them!
