June Update
Added 2025-06-05 17:00:11 +0000 UTCAnd just like that, half the year is already behind us. June is a special time for me, personally, as it's both pride month AND my birthday month! I get to spend the entire month pretending that corporations all over the U.S. are slathering everything with pride banners just to please me, and it feels great every year.
Now, unlike my last few monthly updates, there's actually going to be some important news in this one, so make sure not to skip it!
First and foremost, Suddenly A Succubus continues to be an absolute joy to write, and we're now about halfway through Book Four. The next few chapters are going to be pretty big, as it's time to start ramping up to the climax of the first Arc of the series. Personally, I think it's going to be the most dramatic ending I've written thus far, but obviously that decision will ultimately be up to all of you :P
Regarding the publication side of things, I'm still hoping to get Book Two out by the end of July. With my new job, I'm not entirely sure if that will be possible, but I won't know until I try. I have much less free time overall these days, and while I'm still comfortably keeping up with my weekly chapter releases, at times I'm finding it difficult to also work on editing the final draft of Book Two. I've actually been putting in some effort to keep myself more focused on my writing days, and I'm finding it easier to stay engaged for longer periods of time. As with all things, I'll be keeping you updated should anything change on my end.
However, as confident as I am in keeping up my current pace, I'm also going to give myself a bit of a birthday present. Just like Christmas, I'm going to be taking a week off; specifically, the third week of the month. All normally scheduled posts will be pushed back a week, which in this case means the Rough Draft, the Reflection, and the Chapter release.
I know it's not ideal but, at the end of the day, I'm only human. A little break now and then can only help me better focus once I'm back on.
Next item of business: Blood & Chlorophyll. Specifically, the lack of it. It's done! After 26 chapters, our lovely adventure with Kat and Alicia has come to an end. It's been an absolute joy to write in the Becoming Monsters setting, and I'm glad so many people have enjoyed the story. I won't share all my thoughts about it here, as the final Reflection went out yesterday, and that feels a bit redundant. Still, a hearty thank you to OtterlyMindblowing once again for giving me this opportunity!
With Kat and Alicia's departure from my release schedule, what's next?
If you've been following me for a while, you know that I started a romance book in November titled Six Feet Over/Under. There's even a little preview of it available here on Patreon!
However, that is not going to be my next book.
Cards on the table: Blood & Chlorophyll took much longer to write than I expected. My intention was always for SFOU to be my next project, but that was before I spent an entire year on B&C. While I don't regret this time in the slightest, and I'm extremely happy with how B&C turned out, the length of the project has forced me to move a few things around.
I won't go into all the details, as they contain spoilers, but I can tell you what's coming next. In fact, my Beta Readers already have it!
My next book, Daughter of Damnation, is a bit of a prequel series to Suddenly A Succubus, with everyone's favorite mommy succubus taking the lead role. We'll be following Evelyn Lamour through several pivotal moments of her life in a story that spans decades.
My goal is to keep this a shorter story, ideally under ten chapters. I'm also hoping that it will function as a standalone story. Sure, it will shed light on certain mysteries from SaS, but neither DoD nor SaS will be required for the other. I've never attempted something like this before, so I can't promise I'll be successful, but that's my goal as of right now.
With that, I think I'm out of big flashy news stories.
Have I mentioned that Patreon lets you gift memberships to your friends?
Nudge nudge
But in all seriousness, thank you all for you wonderful support and enthusiasm. I write primarily to create the stories I would love to read, and it's a fantastic bonus that so many other people seem to want those stories as well. I hope you all have a spectacular pride month, even if you're not celebrating.
Until next time!
