Happy September! Here's what I've been up to... (Mini Blog/Journal Entry) (Courses) (Professional Acting Training) (September Motto)

Happy September, everyone! How's your month going so far? Good? I've been loving my classes—for the most part. We've been discussing the famous "nature vs. nurture" debate in Cognitive Development, which is how almost every one of my psychology classes begins, so it feels a bit redundant. Otherwise, my classes feel fresh and challenging.

You'll never guess what my most challenging class is this semester. Nope, not Business Economics, though that's proving to be quite the challenge! It's actually Acting Fundamentals. I never thought an acting class would challenge me this much. It's most challenging because I have no prior professional training in acting. I sang in a few musicals in high school, but that was all fun and games. This course is all about technique, which I am rather ignorant about.

But I'm excited for what's to come! My professor mentioned that my peers and I will take risks and venture out of our comfort zone often, which I'm really looking forward to. I think this will benefit me as both an actress and a person.

Fun fact: My professor is a professional voiceover artist who records audiobooks, commercials, and more! I only learned of this course because she had recommended that I take her course during a meeting about my future as a voice actress in the summer. I'm really glad that I was able to enroll; the waitlist was packed!

Anyway, enough about school. What's your motto for September? I like to choose a new motto every few months. My last motto was "treat the cause, not the symptoms." This month, I think I'll focus on not caring (too much) about what others think. A YouTuber named Erin May Henry recently inspired me to live for myself and not for others. For the past few days, I have been doing what is best for me, even when I am afraid that others will judge. For example, yesterday it was pouring rain, but I still had to walk to my classes on campus. I wanted to wear my rain boots to prevent my everyday shoes from being dirtied by the muddy rainwater, but I was hesitant to do so because my rainboots are somewhat bulky and awkward-looking. Nonetheless, I wore my rainboots confidently—and even received a compliment on them—and was able to change into clean, dry shoes before class. So I'm definetly going to continue living for myself, this September and beyond. It's worth it!

What's your motto for this month? I'd love to read your responses in the comments. I need some inspiration for upcoming months. And your motto may inspire a fellow patron! So please, do tell.

Not sure that I have a motto this month, so I wanted to leave some motivation. Because, we all need that at some point.

That’s exactly right! Is this your motto for September or simply a piece of insightful information for your fellow Patrons and me?

Life isn't getting easier for you. It's just that you get stronger and better than you were before, which makes life look that way to you.
