The Story of Norie: The Cursed Fairy (+ Halloween Costume Reveal) [Original Story]

Meet Norie, a fairy who was cursed by her queen and banished from her village because she fell in love with a human. She lost everything, well, except for the human whom she sacrificed her status for. Surely he would welcome her into his home—right? Wrong. He wouldn't dare sacrifice his relationship with his loving wife and children for his mistress, let alone the fact that she's was a fairy.

Heartbroken and defeated, Norie hid amongst the humans, wondering what she had done to deserve the life she led then. She wanted nothing more than to return to her village and hug her family. But the curse prevented any fairy from loving her, as the Queen figured that, since Norie had ventured out of the village and grew enamored with a human, she was unappreciative of the love that her fairy family and friends felt for her.

Time passed, and Norie grew cold and bitter. She hated living a life in the shadows. What was the point? She had no family, no friends, no one that loved her. Surely no one would notice if she just... disappeared.

One afternoon, Norie found herself standing on a branch over a deep pond. She stared at her reflection in the water, not remembering how she had gotten there but not wanting to return to her tree, her "home." Perhaps she should just jump, she thought, and become one with the fishes...

But she was interrupted by you, a lonely fisherman who, too, struggled to fit in. You had trekked across town to visit your friends, the bluegills, to say... goodbye. You'd miss them, the fish, but you knew that they wouldn't miss you.

Perhaps something out there was protecting you. Protecting Norie, too. Because had one of you decided to visit the pond even an hour later, this story would end very, very tragically.

You made a home for Norie in your cabin. She thanked you by teaching you how to make dragonfly soup and how to decipher the messages of the stars. Together, you relearned what made life worth living.

One night, as you two rested on a quilt under the stars, Norie flew onto your shoulder. That's odd, you thought. Norie hated sitting on your shoulder; she couldn't see your eyes from there. But sure enough, Norie settled onto your shoulder, gently tugged at your earlobe, and whispered,

"Thank you for saving me."
