(Exclusive) Feeling Each Other in a New Way
Added 2025-03-24 18:33:38 +0000 UTCYou and your best friend get lost in the passion and share a very intimate moment together. Now, lying beside each other, you bask in the afterglow.
A Note from Moon
Alas, another exclusive audio! This story was born from my dissatisfaction with the sequel of Squished Against Your Best Friend. It wasn't a bad sequel; I just felt as if that story required more context. But I should note that this audio is completely unrelated to Squished Against Your Best Friend. It features a new set of characters entirely.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll relating to this audio. You voted for a dominant best friend character, and while I swore that I was as dominant as one could be in her situation, upon listening back, I realized that my character is more neutral, with twinges of dominance here and there.
But what do you think?
What is a dominance exactly? I would describe it as a tendency to take the lead. But given this story's precarious context, it makes sense that my character is hesitant. People are complex, and even the most dominant of us can feel vulnerable and insecure. One of my challenges as an actor is to preserve my character's key traits while navigating different settings. But how does a dominant person act when vulnerable?
It was especially challenging to preserve my character's dominance because I am not a dominant person, quite the opposite actually. And when I improvise, I insert myself into a story to portray a realistic character. (I'm sure that I'd be scolded by acting coaches, but this is the method that I resort to when I have to think of lines on the spot.)
Sure, in the back of my mind, I remind myself that I need to preserve my character. That's why there are twinges of dominance in this audio (3:23). But sometimes, I get so lost in the story, and parts of myself seep through, submissiveness and all (5:00, 10:45).
With that said, I hope this character is dominant enough for you. Was it necessary for me to explain all of that? Probably not. But these little rambles that I write, over-explaining my work... It helps me to reflect. Writing has always helped me to reflect. Writing allows me to package my thoughts neatly so that I can understand and use them to make better audios in the future.
Fortunately you can choose whether to read these rambles or skip them. I choose to include them for those that are interested in the frazzled mind of an artist.
Take care,
Moon ☾

Also, I know at least a couple of acting coaches who would tell you you’re doing things exactly right by getting at least some of yourself into a character.
