Character Spotlight: Patra

With the realization that vessels could be 'programmed' to be born with vast amounts of knowledge, vessel developers came to an obvious conclusion about the benefits a teaching model could bring to mankind. Prepackaged with far more knowledge than any other vessel and designed to have a gentle, but firm personality well-suited to its work, the Patra model has enjoyed immense success and on its own vastly improved education the world over. Unfortunately, the amount of information stored in her brain is so great that it seems to impede her life outside of teaching and give her a great deal of difficulty in relating to other, less learned, people. That said, her knowledge can be of invaluable help to those she serves under in the Frontier, so it would be wise to heed her lessons well as a commander.

Along with the other members of the Brunch Squad, Patra will be a fairly major character at the beginning of the game, and will also serve as the primary tutorial giver, thus her role as a teacher. The reason I decided to feature the Brunch Squad so heavily to start off with, instead of any stronger vessels, is because I want to get the player used to vessels getting eaten early on and demonstrate the mechanics of their memory transfer and cloning without needing to give a lengthy explanation of either. In the full game, you can expect to see all three of them to get eaten quite often in cutscenes, by enemies, other vessels, and even each other. With her inclusion, I actually only need one more character, Dr. Astrid, before I can get started on writing the game's tutorial and prologue, and from there it won't be too much longer until I can start on the rest of the campaign as well.
