Trying to Increase Release Rate by Recruiting More Beta Readers
Added 2023-03-29 19:13:54 +0000 UTCHey there, fellows!
I want to supply more chapters of Casual Heroing and, hopefully, bring the releases to one chapter a day! But I need your help!
Are you interested in diving into advanced, unreleased chapters before anyone else and help me crank up the release rate? I'm on the hunt for some cool beta readers to join my Goblin squad. As a Goblin, you'll help me polish my stories and make sure they're top-notch for all readers. Plus, your insights will help me churn out chapters even faster!
I am a fast writer, but I am a careful story plotter. I genuinely think that expanding my roster of beta readers would help me work out kinks much, much faster by doing rewriting alongside the plotting!
In fact, the new subscribers don't know that the end of the Bake-off was completely rewritten! Goblin Aaron - now on his way to the Hobgoblin promotion - gave such great feedback that, after a brief back-and-forth, I trashed the last chapter and wrote three in its place!
I know it's a commitment and many don't have the time, but if you do, come on board and help us scavenge the best story out of Casual Heroing unedited backlog!
PS You'll also receive the very green role on Discord!
Requirements to Become a Goblin:
- Provide valuable feedback on chapters, whether brief or detailed.
- Read new beta chapters approximately every other day when they're available.
- Be willing to register on betabooks.co, as I'll send invitations through this platform.
- Be an active Patreon subscriber.
Goblin Perks:
- Access to my unedited backlog.
- Enhanced and fully responsive reading experience. (Patreon reader = 🤮)
- Offer valuable feedback consistently, and you can unsubscribe from my Patreon and continue reading on betabooks. That is the Hobgoblin promotion.
How to Apply:
Send me a private message and tell me simply how much free time for leaving feedback you have and add your feedback on the latest published chapter based on the guidelines below.
Below are the guidelines I share with current Goblins at the end of every chapter.
First and foremost, feel free to express your genuine emotions. BOREDOM IS VALID, as is happiness. Share your feelings at the end of each chapter, and feel free to elaborate on the reasons.
Rest assured, I have thick skin, and I prefer your honest, critical feedback over polite but unhelpful remarks.
In addition to your emotions, please consider these five questions for each chapter. You're not obliged to answer all of them each time, but use them to help you reflect on the chapter.
- Was there anything confusing or hard to believe?
- Were you curious about any aspects of the chapter and looking forward to learning more?
- Did any parts of the chapter feel slow or drag?
- If you were a picky reader, what might have irritated you while reading?
- After reading the chapter, what would you change about the story or writing, whether at the chapter or story level?
Comments
To each their own. The finer details are something that a lot of people really enjoyed in the first version of Casual Heroing and I decided to keep them. My favorite part is when some shit goes down and Joey is put under a lot of stress. Close seconds are when I'm firing on all cylinders with comedy and the more romantic/personal interactions.

I don’t care about the underlying details. Just skimmed through chapter 80 for that reason. I don’t know fuck about physics and I’d rather not learn now. Though it’s clear to see your passion when it comes to Joey cooking, I just don’t care all that much about the finer details
