The boy who saw and believed

Justin's path isn't your favorite, but still, he's an important character in the story. There are some scenes in the previous chapters that showed that there is some supernatural aura around him. In chapter 11, if chapter 10 ended with the encounter with David, you can launch one of the crucial switches in the story.

***

When David left, Justin started to shake. As you felt overwhelmed and exhausted, you barely noticed it. You felt exposed and hurt. The first you could do was to curtain the window. Later, when you thought about it, you weren't able to explain why you did it, but when you did it, you felt a little safer. You slowly went to the coach. You felt cold and ill. Justin still was talking about something, but you didn't recognize the words. You were just looking at him, blinking. Then you took his hand. You both laid on the couch and covered yourselves with a blanket. Justin was whispering something to you, he kept repeating your name, but you just couldn't focus. You hugged him. His racing heartbeat was unnaturally loud.

You didn't know how long you were in that position. Time seemed to pass somewhere else. The warmth of your bodies slowly calmed you both.

Then you finally started to follow Justin's words. He just couldn't stop talking. His voice was hoarse and quiet.

"I don't know what happened. It's so fucked up, I... I couldn't move. Why the fuck I couldn't move?"

Then he stopped rapidly and sat on the couch.

"Pauline... Can you see it?"

He pointed to the window. Yes, you could see it. But he shouldn't. The view sobered you immediately. The strange light of many shades and colors that you couldn't name was penetrating through the curtains.

"What the hell?"

Justin stepped forward. Then he started to choke. He desperately tried to breathe. Finally, he threw up the round object that shone in a similar, unnatural way.

And Justin saw it.

He fell to his knees with disbelief and fear on his face. The poker chip was melting. Justin was looking at it with fascination. Then he looked at you.

"What the hell?" he repeated.

Well, that was a good question. Apparently, one of the rules of the Parity was broken.
