Devil In The Waters, Book 3, Chapter 7a (partial)

Kimmy couldn’t have looked more out of place, and it was the other moms looking bothered that clued him in. The others had greeted Kimmy, some already knew her, and you could see the coldness in their faces. This wasn’t the Kimmy they knew. Not the one they were use to. This one was intimidating. And if their boyfriends or husbands were present, their chagrin would be amplified. Kimmy was tall, taller in her heels, and Josh didn’t know how much the shoes cost (only knew they were expensive enough Kimmy didn’t want to give him the number), but figured the moms would; her legs were long, she was skinny, and now her hair was combed back, shining like it was wet, tied in a bun, exposing her perfect and beautiful face under the long fringe of bangs. She hardly wore makeup; just a little accent on her eyes, a little gloss on her lips; you could see the freckles on her cheeks to prove she didn’t have a base of foundation. Gabrielle and Leah had worn suits today, but they didn’t have Kimmy’s thin figure, nor were their clothes as fine as Kimmy’s expensive things. Plus they’d doffed their jackets, rolled up sleeves, and untucked shirts.

Kimmy lounged with her back against the table, facing outward like him, legs tightly crossed like she was cold. She said, “Did you eat?”

“No. Figured we’d eat together, and you probably wouldn’t want a hot dog and fries.”

“I’m not opposed.”

“We can grab Chinese when we’re going home.”

“I’m starving,” she sighed, tightening her crossed arms.

He moved his mouth like he would ask if she and Devlin didn’t stop on the way back from Hamilton for a bite to eat, but didn’t want to bring him up. “We can get going soon.”

“We don’t have to hurry.”

“Want me to grab you some fries or something?”

“I’m good.” Her high heel shoe bobbed, Kimmy swinging her leg. A shapely leg he examined, lusting after his own wife, her oblivious to the way her husband currently studied her. He already knew his luck being with her, and now he enjoyed a moment studying the provocative shape of her knee, calf, and ankle like she was a beautiful woman he didn’t know sitting next to him on the subway. Thin legs, raised tendon at her knee, the hem of her skirt was kept low, almost touching her knee; there was a glimpse of inside thigh, just a sliver, on the leg crossing over top the other. He smiled, raised his eyes to appreciate her perfect profile a moment, the shallow ridges, the subdued almost flat prominence of her nose, the pout of her sexy lips, the sharpness of jaw, thinness of neck . . . His eyes returned to the exposed leg, a swelling beginning between his own legs, a desire to get her home building . . .

In the the glare of the high mounted fluorescents, he detected a gauzy haze on her skin that otherwise gleamed. He reared back, trying to change the light’s reflection. Yeah, there was a barely noticeable dullness there, inside of her left knee, and it made him think of Gabrielle cleaning Simon’s mouth of ice cream and missing a spot, or smearing rather than clearing. He cocked his head, saw the hazy shape’s irregular edges, the vague outline reminding him of a jigsaw puzzle piece.

When he cupped a hand on her bare knee, Kimmy jumped. He laughed, thumb-caressed her kneecap to soothe her. She pressed her crossed legs together tighter and tugged the hem of her skirt lower, trying to get it over her knee. He still chuckled, wiping his thumb to clear the mark. There was no strange feel under his thumb pad, and he cocked his head to see if there was a change to the duller sheen. Kimmy caught him looking, squirming now to see what he spied. “Don’t, Josh,” she said, annoyed.

“I’m not doing anything,” he laughed.

“Not in public,” she said without humor, licking three of her fingers, shoving his hand away and wiping where his thumb had been.

“I’m not doing anything,” he said again with less laughter this time. Kimmy crossed her legs over the other way now and tugged her skirt hem low. Like she was self-conscious of dressing so well when everyone else here at the Monkey House dressed so casual.

From the central alley’s end, Meyer and Sophie had come to their group, Meyer lifting Sophie up by both hands to stand on the picnic table bench. Sophie trotted straight to her favorite aunt, coming to Kimmy’s back and putting her little hands on Kimmy’s bun, looking to undo it. While he watched and said nothing to Kimmy as Sophie approached, it was because he expected Sophie’s presence to remove Kimmy’s scowl—but instead, Kimmy almost shouted, her face pinching mean as she darted forward, hands coming up protectively to the sides of her head. “Don’t do that,” she hissed, clucking her tongue, standing up, scoffing, straightening her skirt.

Kimmy turned, saw it was Sophie; her posture sagged. Sophie stood on the bench still, both hands gathered under her chin, eyes widened from being scolded unexpectedly, sucking on her lower lip. Kimmy hung her head, palmed her brow for a second, then showed a face full of apology. She took Sophie in her arms, sitting back down next to Josh again, one hand caressing the back of Sophie’s head. “I’m so sorry, Sophie, I didn’t know it was you.”

“Sorry,” Sophie said, and Kimmy shushed her, not wanting her to apologize, hugging still. Josh met Myer’s eyes where he stood at the end of the table, hands in his pockets. They both shrugged.

“Go—do it,” Kimmy said to Sophie now, spinning, showing Sophie her back. “Make me look normal again.”

The hurt feelings were forgotten, and Sophie giggled, began working fingers through Kimmy’s hair.

Kimmy showed him a grimace that turned sheepish, and he laughed, palmed her knee where it touched his thigh. Kimmy put her hand over his.

Sophie worked the bun loose and Kimmy shook her hair out, running nails through her bangs to mess them up. Sophie hugged arms around Kimi’s neck and pressed her chin into her neck.

“Now I feel like myself again,” Kimmy told her, caressing Sophie’s forearm.

“Come jump with me,” Sophie said. The spot across from them where the boys had fought was empty still. Inviting.

“I don’t think I can, Soph. I don’t have the right shoes.” And, no, she didn’t, her heels would go right through.

Sophie said, “Take off your shoes.”

Kimmy said, “I don’t think so, Soph, they don’t want bare feet on there, do they?”

Josh said, “They wouldn’t want my bare feet on there, nobody’s going to care about your pretty feet . . .”

Kimmy shot him a disdainful look. “But . . .”

“Plea-ease,” Sophie pleaded.

Meyer said, “Go on in your bare feet, Kimmy—who’s going to stop you? You look like you own the place.” He helped Sophie down, and she took Kimmy’s wrist; not tugging, but gently guiding, showing Kimmy an expression of pleading.

“Kimmy, just get out there,” Josh laughed, leaning away and giving her room to get up.

She did. Reluctantly.

Sophie led her across to the trampoline, bounding ahead and showing her how you were supposed to do it. Meyer took Kimmy’s spot on the bench next to Josh. Together they watched Kimmy stiffly finding her bounce, hands on her skirt like she was afraid it might fly up. Kimmy looked nervous at first, but soon was persuaded by Sophie to get into it. And while eventually Kimmy flung her jacket aside and bounced in her sleeveless top (showing off her toned arms), she still seemed stiff. It was strange, because fun Kimmy from two weeks ago would probably have tried a backflip for Sophie, skirt or not.

I didn't know fertilizer was an aphrodisiac!

that sounds like an epic book Donk.. I’d just add that whilst Kimmy was talking to Josh Devlin was plowing her... That is my favorite cheating wife. trope.. Gets me every time.

Chinookfan72

no problem..Yeah I don’t see any issues at all what you wrote so it can’t be deleted because of that (at least I hope not because otherwise I’m not sure what is allowed). I’m hoping it was a system glitch or perhaps you went to edit it and hit delete instead.. I just hope it isn’t patreon big brothering us.

Chinookfan72

yeah I couldn’t find your reply to me on here. I get email notifications so I can see the comment there, but when I come here nada. I can copy and paste your comment here if you’d like. That being said I agree with a lot of what you say especially in regards to Kimmy and Josh’s relationship and how this format is a lot like OHW ( I don’t post much there just because I hate how the posts make it harder to find the rest of the story). As for Josh seeing through this shit, I can see where you are coming from, but I personally can’t give a Josh that much credit. He’s had way better “evidence” in the past to see through and didn’t see through it. I can’t imagine he’d immediately roll over about the card, but because Kimmy is acting stiff at the tramp park then suddenly it’ll all make sense. This story is hard because we the reader know a lot more about Kimmy’s actions than a Josh does so I think it’s easy to assume Josh should be able to see through this. But I ask, every time Kimmy isn’t in a perfectly bubbly mood is Josh going to assume she’s fucking someone? If so Josh has major trust issues and that doesn’t give with how easily he dismissed Kimmy cheating on him as the reason she didn’t know about the card. It’s been a month since he found the card and in that time Josh hasn’t received any indication Kimmy is cheating on him. Even his snooping (find my phone) shows her exactly where she should be. So I personally think it’s a bridge to far for him Josh to see through her actions and see she is cheating on him.. I think he might ask her wants going on, but she’ll come up with a believable story about how she was uncomfortable being at the tramp park and felt peer pressured into jumping, but didn’t want to because she was wearing a skirt and didn’t want to flash the kids and workers her panties. As she is wearing a skirt panty lines are a thing so she could easily tell Josh she was wearing a thong and didn’t want to flash her ass to a bunch of kids and his work colleagues. I think that is reasonable.. In the end it’s all speculation, none of us know what’s going to happen the speculation is just fun wasting time until KT gives us our next fix.

lol, Donk.

i’m actually on team break up, though it’s my assumption I’m the minority here. I too see this as a growing opportunity for Kimmy and I think her and Josh were a good fit prior to her transformation, but I don’t seem them as a good fit afterward. My take on Josh since the tent incident is he is super unconfident and passive aggressive. While Kimmy is growing, Josh is shrinking, and I think it’s going to eventually eat away at Kimmy attraction to Josh, and probably cause some resentment towards him. Confidence and drive are sexy, I see none of that from Josh, Kimmy will being to see she has other options out there (even if Devlin is just a temporary thing) and there might be something better. The only way this turns into a hotwife story is if Josh confronts Kimmy, I can’t see Kimmy confessing in the middle of the story, which means Devlin is going to have to start humiliating him again because Josh is going to need some more evidence and more of a kick in the pants in order for him to truly lay it out on the line for Kimmy. I mean he didn’t do it after the tent or the card so even if small things like what’s happening now continue to happen I don’t see these being the innocents that will have Josh truly confront Kimmy. He’ll bring them up in his usual way, and then Kimmy will explain it away and Josh will just drop it. in the meantime I do think kimmy will start to be more dominate to Josh in the bedroom and Josh will probably get a kick out of it, at least in the beginning.

The Peyton Places of far-flung deployments? If only those residential shipping containers in Kabul, Baghdad, and Jallalabad could talk! "Gee, sorry about the radio silence, Josh, I don't get good mobile reception inside the container, where those Ami pricks make me spend 23 hours a day!"

Donkatsu

Donkatsu, you think Kimmy has developed a fetish for shipping containers?

Book 4: "Kimmy in Quarantine" After returning from a trip to China with Devlin ("honest, Kimmy, we'll fly private, there is no chance of any contact with the masses.") Kimmy and Devlin are placed in quarantine after a refueling stop in Anchorage. As friendly foreign nationals they get their own quarters ("Are you two a couple?" "Um, yes," replies Kim. "Well, we have this refitted shipping container with a bed, shower, toilet and kitchenette.") ("Josh, I don't know how to tell you but those Yankee SOBs have put me in quarantine in Alaska for two weeks. No, you cannot visit as I am in a strict quarantine. Devli? well, he is quarantined on the man's side of the facility. Yes, I love you tonnes and miss you already.")

Fight coming?…I don’t know but after reading the last few installments I was reminded of the first movement of the William Tell Overture which is a prelude to the second “The Storm”. It was one of my Dad’s albums (78 rpm records!) and we kids loved the buildup, the soft timpani rolls at the end of the first and then, our anticipation as the record changes, the crashing shrieks of the wind instruments as the full orchestra blasted out the storm. Yeah, dates me but no TV in those days so it was records or the radio. One of these days Josh and Kimmy are going to let it all out and seems like a reasonable scenario to go from the shipping container blow job (Kimmy)/erection generating premonition (Josh) and then the mixed emotions generated by fun times at a kids’ restaurant to some more explicit dueling on the way home or at home. I’m thinking it might be just more skirmishing but there’s certainly potential for more. KT did say something about holding on to the sides of the cart a while back.

I think Kimmy should tell Josh about her day and how her tour went. And how dirty and dusty the docks were. leaving out the BJ and the finger banging. Placate, Josh calm the situation. Depending on if Devlin left any marks on her she can proceed from there. She then has a reason to hop in the shower before bed. She may ask Josh to join her if she has no tell tale marks? Chinookfan72, I'm a bit of a Kimmy fanboy too. She has the opportunity to grow and mature be a woman to be reckoned with. I could see her wanting to be call Kim or Kimberly instead of Kimmy(cute but not a lawyers name). There isn't any reason that she can't be Kimmy at home but outside she will have a different persona. Ms or Mrs. Kimberly Chen(I forgot what her maiden name was) I represent Mr. Stone... She may bring some of this new aggressiveness to the bedroom too. It depends on how comfortable she get with her cheating. Josh is going to be ramped up tonight because of his afternoon arousal. He may be a bit quick on the trigger, We'll have to see how Kimmy handles it. Will she be Kimmy or Kimberly. Kimberly is not going to let Josh leave her hanging, she'll demand her due. Josh and Kimmy are due for some intense sex There needs to be a realignment in the bedroom for the Waters. A new normal with a more assertive, wilder Kimmy. Another reflection on the reunion Devlin said that Josh wanted to see Kimmy with another guy. Josh has always been unsure of the truth of that statement. What if Devlin brings this up to Kimmy? What if she confronts Josh? How will he react? How will she? Hum... I'm just trying to reconcile how Kimmy can transition from cheater to hot wife. Who want to see them breakup! It would be sad...

RCH

Here's the thing. When we read this last night, my wife said, "Holy shit! Josh is going to see right through this shit." I agreed. Kimmy over reacted and Josh apparently missed Kimmy getting rid of the slick spot. Josh is a tough read for me. I have to stop projecting what I would do in such a situation (that's to KT's credit--it happened big time in the Maggie series, and caused me to stop reading it for a while), suspend whatever I would do, and go with the flow of the story. I will say this: If I were Josh, Kimmy and I would talk about this until we were blue in the face. I would stress working for Devlin is a bad idea: Kimmy's a lawyer, she can get a job anywhere. Then again, the tent thing would have never happened. Devlin would have had his own dick shoved up his ass. End of story. But, it's a story. It's not reality. It's to KT's credit that my objectivity goes out the window with this. I think part of that is the format. It's like reading an xleglover story on OHW. I don't comment much there, but here it's different. This format fuels speculation and the story itself is troubling for me. Honesty by both Josh and Kimmy is a long gone thing, or so it seems. Maybe in the future world of this story they'll have some kind of epiphany that causes them to bare their souls to each other, but right now, I don't see it. It smells a lot like a bad end for Josh, and that bothers me. It feels like LHW to me. Since we started reading stories, my wife has always been better at this shit than me.

DavidnDaria

Well I'm just tickled ... lol. If this were a movie I'd be picking kernels from between my teeth I'd be eating my popcorn so fast. New layer of defense for Kimmy's actions for the all-knowing, discerning reading audience ... "Maybe Kimmy is better off working for Devlin with all that entails, I mean, look at her!?!?" I love the detail of Josh's understanding of Kimmy and how he was shot down touching her knee, then feeling like Sophie would get her smiling, because that always works, she flips out, as if on impulse. Kimmy is coming out a professional cocoon. We all know why Kimmy is acting strange, but to Josh? Maybe she is just trying to adjust to her new normal, doesnt everyone have to adjust now that this is a part of Kimmy's life? Kimmy is a lawyer now, she can't be doing backflips in skirts with her niece! 😉

JamesIsAsleep

DND I don’t think home will be all that eventful. They sound like they are going to get take out then probably head home, Kimmy will be Josh’s ride home so she won’t stop. Instead she’ll just change clothes when she gets to the home. As for sex that’s debatble she might feel guilty and give him some, or she might not be in the mood, that could really go any which way. If they are having a fight isn’t it Josh who’s picking it? Kimmy might end the fight, but it’ll be something Josh does or says that sets it off. I see Josh pushing Kimmy’s buttons in this instance not Kimmy pushing Josh’s. And then again, I full team Kimmy and anti Josh so I’m biased as the day is long.

Chinookfan72

i don’t know DND, I wouldn’t say Kimmy is blowing it. Her actions read to me that she’s uncomfortable there, not only because her and a Josh don’t have kids (and have recently argued over family), but also because she can probably feel the way the other people are looking at her and also she isn’t exactly dressed to enjoy a place like that. Throw in the fact that things aren’t going smoothly at home (not a fight, but not good either) between Josh and Kimmy and I think you have a rationalization for the way she acting. If I was in Kimmy’s shoes I would be mad Josh picked this as their hang out spot. I don’t think Josh is a super sleuth that is suddenly going to see the answers to the universe off of a smudge on kimmy’s leg and her being uncomfortable in a perfectly reasonable setting to be uncomfortable.

Chinookfan72

We'll have to see how thing progress. Kimmy's will her mood get worse or better as the evening progresses? For maybe the first time in her life Kimmy is being seen as competition by other women. She's got the power! Kimmy's coming into her own she feels highly valued in the work force and it show in how she carries herself. KT don't forget to remind Kimmy about the wet wipes.
