Devil In The Waters, Book 3, Chapter 19 (complete)

His current rationalization: If Kimmy was fucking Devlin, then why would she need to meet Devlin at a hotel after work? Devlin was her boss, so he could tell her to knock off for an extra-long lunch and they’d hook up for an afternoon delight. The reason then that Devlin would take her out after work was because he wanted Josh to know: Josh, I have your wife after work. That’s your time, buddy. But it’s my time now. Yeah, I could fuck her at lunch, but I need you to know I’m fucking her . . .

But why no more contact? Why no more taunting texts then?

This situation had finally twisted him to his snapping point. There were times he could ignore what was going on because he didn’t believe it. Didn’t believe Kimmy would ever cheat on him. But all day today Kimmy and Devlin were all he could think of. And self-hatred. Hating himself for letting it get to this point.

He buzzed down his window and breathed fresh air. It wasn’t fresh. He was in a shaded untraveled canyon-like roadway running a circuit between skyscrapers. Parked next to a yellow parking barrier by a black painted cement wall, the air that came through the window was hot like exhaust from the buildings’ air conditioners. He did the window back up and rotated his head on his aching neck.

This was really happening, wasn’t it? He was starting to believe Kimmy was actually sleeping with Devlin. For the longest time, he’d parted Kimmy from the formula. It was between him and Devlin, and Devlin used her as a pawn. Somehow he’d sexualized the fear, enjoyed it, let that weird pleasure strain his better judgment and permit his wife getting closer to Devlin—when he should have kept them apart. But up till this morning he hadn’t believed it was true. This morning was the first time he had real evidence. As real as it was. Maybe she sent the lingerie to the dry cleaner. He’d googled lingerie at work, and yes, some women sent lingerie to the dry cleaner. He didn’t go home and tear the apartment apart looking for her pick-up stub to prove it to himself, but just thinking maybe that’s where the lingerie might be calmed him down enough he could function.

Why couldn’t he commit to proving himself right or wrong, once and for all? Instead, here he was half-hearted, non-committed—fucking flaccid—skulking in an upscale alley in the vicinity of the Royal York. If he was a real man, he’d march right into the Royal York, sit down with them all and make his presence known.

Shit, no. That was stupid.

What then?

That was the problem: he didn’t even know. How does one deal with this? He’d always been cushioned by the thought that his wife would never cheat on him. Ever. And even though never was never, the added enforcement of her fidelity would be that—on top of it never happening—it especially would never be with Devlin Stone.

Slumped low in his driver seat, tie loosened, shirt unbuttoned, hair a mess, he watched a technician unloading gear from his Bell van at a building’s service entrance; in his lap his phone’s screen showed Kimmy’s throbbing blue dot on the Find My Phone app so close to his own. She was just around the corner. He could go and spy, go see who the clients were (if there were any), see what she looked like sitting with Devlin. Fuck, that would hurt though. That scared the shit out of him. For what if her lingerie was at the dry cleaner and he was wrong once again and the woman he trusted was working and not having an affair? If he got caught he’d be embarrassed, at the worst. But equally worst was not getting caught and catching a real live glimpse of what his beautiful wife looked like sitting and having drinks with his high school bully. Kimmy in her new and foreboding dark lawyer clothes, hair pulled back, looking severe and scary and sexy, and she’s with the guy who told everyone in school Josh was gay for looking at his dick in the shower. He’d have that image burned in his head forever.

Probably go back to not getting it up for her, Josh. Remember that after Tiffany’s party? When you were so scared of Devlin’s big dick your smaller dick stayed down and cowered before your wife. You’d thought she’d had sex with Devlin those days. You want to go back there?

Just some lingerie. That’s what started this. Maybe the smoky stockings she wore this morning were just panty hose that looked the same. Maybe the lingerie was out of the house being cleaned . . .

Maybe.

But you wouldn’t get stockings dry cleaned, would you?

“Fuck,” he hissed and thumped the heel of his hand on the steering wheel.

***

Devlin had booked a suite in anticipation he would get her into bed. Seventeenth floor, lake side of the building, windows looking out over the Scotiabank Arena and the Inner Harbour beyond. The coffered walls were a subdued dove gray; the furniture austere but reminiscent of vintage rail travel, modern and black with gold trim, swayed legs like what occidentals would have called oriental—a banker’s minimalist version of the Orient Express.

They walked together to the center of the hotel room’s living room, and Devlin asked her if she’d like another drink. She appreciated the distraction. The hesitation. The momentary pulsing of the brakes on this awful thing she was going to do. Because she was going to do it now.

So why stop for a drink?

“Yes, please.”

“Whiskey, right?”

She smiled, said, “You know me well.”

Devlin chuckled, strolled to a low smoky glass and steel table by the window looking out on the sunny waterfront. On the table there were bottles of liquor arranged on a tray, and Devlin looked through them, produced one and showed it to her. But she didn’t really know whiskeys, so she just nodded. He poured a glass while she stood in the room with her hands together at her front. Earlier this evening feeling so dominant, but now suddenly feeling very submissive despite her stern and proud attire.

Devlin returned with one glass and presented it to her.

She asked, “You’re not having one?”

He shook his head no, put his hands in his pants pockets like he would watch her drink. She let him watch, smelled the whiskey, took a long sip, then licked her lips while they burned, looked around the luxury suite. She said, “Can we talk about work or something?”

Devlin pulled a hand out of his pocket, checked his gold watch. “Too late to talk about work now, Kimmy. I’m all talked out. And it’s time for play.”

She nodded, licked her lips again, drained her whiskey glass and returned it to him. He took it and smiled, holding it at his chest and studying her. “The way that light is hitting your face right now, Kimmy, I can’t believe how beautiful you grew up to be.”

She tried not to show a reaction. Stared back. Studied the light on his face, imagining how the same light might play on her own. Late summer in the city, later in the day, almost dusk, the sun low and hot orange. The light that came in the windows looked reflected off pink glass. It put warmth on his dark and severe features. The prominent cheekbones, the sharp jaw. It was after six now, but no five o’clock shadow. Devlin had shaved for their encounter. She was sure of it. He was a masculine man, one that would show stubble.

He was so sure of himself. Inviting her here on a Monday night, two days ago, specifically to get her into the bed behind her. Tricking her. Knowing he could trick her. And he was right. He’d booked the suite. A luxury suite that must cost almost four figures for the night. Made reservations at Clockwork. Had shaved his face. All for her.

She let her purse strap fall from her shoulder, stepped away and plopped it on a chair. Devlin returned the glass to the table and set it down with a quiet click. Turned then, and met her in the middle of the carpet, face-to-face, her looking up at him. He cupped a hand to her neck, lowered his mouth to hers. Their lips came close, but she turned away.

“Don’t . . .”

He gripped her neck, stroked her jaw with his thumb. Then pushed her away with the slightest measure of roughness. It opened her eyes. But he was smiling, looking down on her like he controlled her. He said, “Take off your jacket.”

Blazer unbuttoned, she opened it, her eyes on his as she withdrew her arms then slung it across her purse resting on the chair. Devlin eyed her, looking her up and down, and she stood straight like she expected this inspection and wanted to measure up to his standards. Thought she did, too. He came close again, undid the top button on her shirt, slipped a finger in the open V now and touched the bare skin of her collar.

She put her hands over his, held it, he flattened the palm against her skin. She said, “I’m married.”

In one swift motion, eyes still on hers, Devlin stooped, the hand going from her collar to her waist, lower then, taking the hem of her skirt on one side and pulling it up her thigh.

For the first time, it looked like she had got the better of Devlin.

He hadn’t expected to see stockings and garters. No, not from the high school girl who used to wear khaki pants, white sneakers, and, yes, she did have a pale yellow sweater with three bunnies on the front. But what he said at Clockwork was correct: She wasn’t that girl anymore. She was the woman Devlin drew out from inside her.

Devlin’s face lost that dominant hardness, and she watched his eyes as what he saw genuinely pleased him. She took her lower lip in her mouth, bit it. He lifted the skirt higher, then with his other hand lifted up the front. Found out she wore no panties. She waited for his eyes to return, and when they did she smiled. That domination was gone still, and replaced now with pure male hunger. This was the reason a woman dressed this way. The control she had now felt more amazing than she anticipated. She even tightened her butt muscles, push her pelvis forward and widened her stance.

“Touch me,” she whispered.

He was going to anyway, and his hand smoothed down between her thighs; she could feel against his fingers and palm how wet she was. Even the insides of her thighs still felt greased. But his touch took away that momentary exchange of power between them. Now Devlin was dominant again, and she was falling against him, her knees turning to water.

He supported her, a hand on the small of her back while he pushed big fingers through her folds, sunk his middle finger inside her. While he fingered her gently, her knees came together till they touched. Then his fingers were gone, slipping up her front, the wetness leaving a trail on her skin through her pubic hair and below her navel. The skirt fell to her thighs, and Devlin touched her lips with the wetness from between her legs.

He said, “Now take off your shirt,” and stepped back, still facing her but pulling a chair closer. He motioned with his chin for her to move aside and stand in front of the loveseat at the foot of the bed, a gray upholstered sofa with black trim, the seat padded with harlequin-printed pillows. She centered herself, met his gaze, watched as he sat and crossed a leg. Devlin Stone wanted to watch her undress. She would do that.

Eyes on his, she took her time undoing each button until her shirt hung open. Then exposing one shoulder, the next, letting the shirt trail down her back before flinging it to the loveseat. She stood in her bra, and didn’t wait for him to ask to remove the skirt. Hands coming together at her side, drawing down the zipper, sucking in her stomach and letting the skirt fall around her ankles. She stepped out of it, not embarrassed for some reason, even standing before Devlin Stone wearing only lingerie and high heels and without panties. Which was insane. Never in her life was she the type of woman she would think could stand like this before a man other than Josh and let him study her body this way. But the man was Devlin Stone, and she wasn’t that timid straight-A student from high school anymore. No, she was a grown woman with long legs, a killer job, went to the gym three nights a week and did yoga twice a week at lunch time. And this was what you did that for. To be appreciated. She even turned, showing him three-quarters of her backside, let sexy Devlin stone see her ass. Yeah, she was skinny, she was long-limbed—but her ass wasn’t flat, it was round. She bit her lip, seeing that hunger growing in him, his stern expression glowering at her naked body like he wanted to punish it. Punish it because it was too good to be true. It affected him. And he didn’t like to be affected.

She whispered, “What do you think?”

***

Devlin liked what he saw, keeping his eyes on hers then rising from the seat to cross the space that separated them. She trembled in anticipation, and the closer he came, the more she could feel his presence—a phantasmal approach, his power over her tingling around her before he could even touch her.

He stood tall next to her, still clothed, her in almost nothing. And now she flooded between her legs again, her stomach quivering, but her mind still looking for a way to get out of here.

Voice low, he grumbled, “You’re torn, aren’t you?”

“Torn?”

She looked in his eyes, they were narrowed on hers, that Pinky orange sunlight coming in and filling them with otherworldly light. She nodded.

“You hate how your body betrays you,” he said, his eyes breaking their connection with hers, watching his forefinger trace down her lingerie clad body. Her body long, lean, one she was proud of, but also now feeling ashamed for showing it to another man so proudly. His fingertips touched across her hipbone and got butterflies lifting in her stomach. Then down, and she knew where it was headed: the angled crease where thigh met groin, coming down and tickling through her pubic hair and touching her pussy. His fingers produced a sopping wet sound. “You hate so much how your body betrays you.”

She whispered, “I want to be home with my husband.”

“But you’re here with me,” he said, and his eyes returned to hers as he slid his middle finger inside her.

She sighed, surrendering to him, body sagging for a moment before she stood upright again. “I’m here with you.”

“You want me so bad,” he said, a smile tugging to one side, eyes like black slits.

“Don’t taunt me.”

“You’re fascinating, Kimmy. I’m not taunting you, I’m getting to understand you . . . getting to know you . . .”

“Getting to know me while your finger’s inside me,” she said, touching his forearm, her hand coming down to hold his wrist steady.

“I’m going to know you, Kimmy. I’m going to know every inch of you. Inside and out. And you’re going to get to know every inch of me.”

She gasped—his incessant waves beating against her retaining wall, crumbling it—then let go his wrist, put her hand flat below his belt, smoothed the fine wool of his fly downward until she felt the bulk of his manhood behind the fabric. No underwear, hanging heavy down a pant leg. She squeezed and milked downward, stoked and squeezed up and down and cradled his balls through his pants. “God, I’m so awful,” she said, closing her eyes.

“You’re so perfect,” he corrected.

“Perfect to you,” she whined, gripping his huge cock through his pants, “but I’m a horrible human being to the one I love . . .”

“You don’t love him any less.”

“Don’t talk about him . . .”

“I like talking about him,” Devlin said, sneering, his breath on her neck, studying her face as he fingered her. “And you do, too—Sometimes we act like he’s not a part of this, but you know he is. You can’t stop talking about him. Down in Clockwork, letting me know how important he was to you.”

“He is important.”

“Then why can’t you help yourself?”

“You’re talking me out of it,” she said, let his cock go, showed him a more steely gaze.

“Nothing’s going to stop you from doing this, Kimmy. Your tough talk is cute, but I know I’m going to have your legs spread on that bed, and I’m finally going to take what I really want . . .”

Now her knees went weak again, and she sagged against his hand. Devlin met her slumping by pushing two fingers inside her and holding her up, pussy in the cup of his hand. He sneered again, loving his effect on her.

How had it come to this? It was a long and sinuous trail that lead back through the hotel room door, down the elevator, through the bar and then zigzagging her life for the last few months. The choice was hers to make. Devlin had given it to her. Devlin didn’t force her into this hotel room, he only opened the door. It was her stepping through. Her making the decision that could injure the man she loved.

“I just can’t,” she whispered, trying to show him a face that would inspire compassion or mercy from him.

“You say you can’t, but you’re standing here in clothes you wore for me. And you’ve left this bare,” he said, and cupped hand between her legs again. The stroke of her fingers against her slippery folds got her sighing. “You want me to claim this pussy as mine. You want to give it to me . . .”

“You can make me come again . . .”

“I can,” he said. “But aren’t you tired of playing this game?”

“It’s not a game.”

While his fingers stroked, finding the hard fleshy pearl of her clitoris, teasing it, working circles, he lowered his mouth toward hers again.

She pulled away, but this time his free hand gripped her throat.

He said, “You’re not fighting with me . . .”

“I know,” she moaned, “I’m fighting with me . . .”

“You want this—so take it.”

“I don’t even like you . . .”

“You don’t have to like me . . .”

His fingers probed deeper, and her hands went to hold onto his wrist. “just please—please, make . . . make me come . . .”

“It’s all about you, isn’t it, Kimmy?” He fucked her pussy faster with his two fingers, chuckling in his throat . . .

Correct, CSH, that's how bullying ends IRL. Nothing else works. Later on, if you try to make up for childhood bullying in business, you end up like Cliff on "Dallas". Not a good look.

Donkatsu

Though to RCH point about real life, I remember seeing our grade school bully pick on one boy for years till the poor boy was a psychological mess. Doubt that boy ever recovered or if he did he was twisted in some bad ways. Another he beat up once then suddenly had a nighttime encounter with a baseball bat. The second guy never got picked on again.

CSH

I agree that it’s a pathway for Kimmy to follow. We will see if she does. I’d really like to see this take a darker D/S turn between Kimmy and Josh but don’t see how we get there yet. On the issue of the abuse I’d say we all appreciate the realism of the characters and their motivations, but it’s basically a fantasy story. In real life of course it ends up in pedestrian pathways - counseling sessions and police for the bullying and divorce court for the marriage. I don’t think any of us are reading this story for that level of realism. Though we may end up with a little poetic justice by the end. The pleasure here is imagining it all going down a different path than normal but in finding that path to be conceivable if not likely.

CSH

RCH you are assuming Josh would have told his parents. Also there is nothing the authorities could do. They were kids so it’s a juvenile case and there are witnesses on both sides.

Chinookfan72

I don’t think she’s a sociopath, it’s not like she doesn’t feel a great amount of guilt for betraying Josh. Honestly, Kimmie shares a lot of the traits of most of our KT heroines...good girls, slightly sheltered and shy, a bit nerdy you might say, but discovering the power of their sexuality. And also maybe not being equipped to deal with the consequences of that discovery. Kimmie, Libby, Maggie, Jess all kind of fit in that box...a notable exception to it is Nia. But this feels a bit like the Maggie arc to me, if Maggie found herself in her late 20’s...and that may be real bad news for Josh. Or it could be good, cause Kimmie is more of an adult and more in love with Josh, and less likely to completely destroy him.

JL23

Kinda serial rapist/killer thinking "the bitches were asking for it" blame the victim. Josh is just asking to have the shit kicked out of him. There is a bit of truth in that. If that would have been me I would have figured out how to end the bullying. Never ever piss off an engineer! I have a very long fuse but after the beating I would have planed a very violent, fire end to the Devlin and his buddies. It may be Canada but there are a lot of option available at the hardware and supermarkets. Realistically Josh's beating would have not gone unnoticed by the authorities. Josh's parents should and would have filed charges body kicks when someone is on the ground is more than a fist fight it's intent to cause grievous harm. Josh had witnesses.

RCH

By the way KT, I loved Devlin's treatise on power in the previous chapter. The idea that Josh's weakness invited Kimmy's power was a nice avenue for Kimmy to escape blame or at least some guilt. It was actually Josh's fault!

Wess

Dayum! We done good!

DavidnDaria

KT, DnD brought out a good point did you ever establish if Josh was Kimmy first? For that matter was Kimmy Josh's first? What was their virgin status when they met?

RCH

Wess, has hit it. Kimmy wants to have her cake and eat it too. It's not a question whether she of love Josh it's that she wants to have the sexual high with Devlin too. Kimmy is just selfish and willing to risk one for the other. There are other sexual bio drives going on but that doesn't excuse her choices. If we could use that as a fall back then all male could tell their wives "Honey I cheated on you because I male and it's in my nature". Animal vs human nature we're suppose to be more in control of our behavior.

RCH

I can wait too.. the hardest part though will not be interacting in the comments section.

Chinookfan72

I agree - love is a feeling that you have. You can have positive feelings for someone and also be extremely shitty to them. You shouldn't, but you can.

Glaucon

Good point

TF

You have created a wicked universe of actors and acted upon, KT. I look into my crystal ball and see a cage ...

Donkatsu

I can wait... :) Yeah, I'm the oddball. I mean, the whole premise of this genre is simple: Wife has sex with other men. The build-up is what I get into... how friggin' odd would it be if they NEVER actually get into the thrusting part of sex? I mean, would it be a first? Is there a genre that is all about slow burn? I dunno. It's Sunday, SUNday, SUNDAY! And no Formula 1. My home state has over 14,000 infections. This shit sucks more and more every day. All the people. Aw fuck... have Kimmy go down the rabbit hole completely! I mean, wasn't Josh her first? Dunno. IF that's the case, have her go on a tear. Make up for that lost time!

DavidnDaria

Exactly.

CSH

I agree that she loves the game, and the sex with Devlin, but I don’t think that means she doesn’t love Josh. As you say she’s just placing more importance on the sex with Devlin than keeping her marriage but that’s what all cheaters do isn’t it? I think it’s a stretch to say she doesn’t love Josh. For me, if she doesn’t then it’s not that interesting a story just a wife cheating on her husband - happens all the time. Where erotic fiction diverges from real life is her finding a path to getting Devlin and still keeping Josh (under control), at least for a while.

CSH

Sure, why not? Half the fun of it. You may have noted that my opinion of Kimmy has varied wildly as the books are revealed. I try to fit what I know (and can remember!) to a model sometimes pushing it. This chapter, to me, is very revealing. Kimmy realizes (yet again)she has the power to say no, that Devlin is not forcing her and that it is she, not Devlin, that is (will) be hurting Josh. She chooses Devlin (I think, she still could bail) and not Josh. To me that means she loves the power over Devlin, the attention of him to her, her sexual excitement and places a higher value on that than her sense of love and life with Josh.

TF

Lol, thanks KT!

JamesIsAsleep

Ha ha—By Friday Grace would have Kimmy in bed with Devlin, Josh on a chair and watching while he masturbated, everyone telling each other their darkest fantasies then begging her to let them act them out.

KT Morrison

We're going to be in this sex scene to mid-April—no one can wait that long!

KT Morrison

james I did ask KT, in the comments last chapter, if she would post everything in one chunk and she was receptive to it. I imagine KT doesn’t want to go too long without posting because it risks losing interest. So I’m not sure it’s practical to do what I requested , as it seems like KT is releasing parts of the almost as quickly as she finishes and she did say the sexual encounter will take up many chapters.. ultimately I’d rather have KT do what’s best for her in this situation. If I have to hold back on reading until all the chapters are released so be it. I’m hooked on the story so I’m not going anywhere.

Chinookfan72

Chinook - with you brother. (KT, please do remember what people read erotica for sometimes, would you? Lol! And while I'm mostly kidding, im an adult and can handle waiting, I can also handle not seeing what I read in this part until what happens in the room played out. I'm going to assume there is some strategy employed though, too, gauging either our temperature or reaction, or both. You know what you're doing.) DnD - Just to say more of my opinion on Kimmy, I'm with Dar, right now Kimmy is stepping out into a new world where she is something of higher prestige than she was used to, shes learning a new drug which is self-respect. Notice how much she loved knowing people in the hotel would be seeing Devlin and her as pseudo celebrities. This has nothing to do with her care and love for Josh, it's just an intoxicating lure for her (and anyone!) not to just get a taste. Just once(!), Kimmy says ;). It is a tad selfish as RCH points out, but being propositioned by a wealthy, good looking person with interesting taste and ability to push your buttons, is a calculation that very few people, even the most noble, saintly people get to make. I always try my hardest to put myself in other people's shoes, and though I have a feeling I'd already confessed by now, I have to think things like tonight would be really hard not to be enticed into thinking about. Especially if there is still that part of you that knows that money is on the way to help your family. That is such a helpful fact to conveniently rationalize the situation for anyone, lol!

JamesIsAsleep

Or maybe she just wants to have her cake and eat too.

Wess

Grace comes from a world of consensual relationships so I’d argue Grace would be the student when it comes to manipulation (though I don’t think Grace would ever want to learn that skill). Grace would either be used as a tool for good i.e. through her observations of Josh and Kimmy she could deduce the communication issues they are suffering from and as their dom she get them to open up once and for all.. Or evil.. She teaches Kimmy dom skills and equipment and Kimmy applies those lessons to Josh. However unlike a consensual BDSM relationship Josh has no safeword.

Chinookfan72

you certainly have an interesting opinion I will give you that, and for all I know you could be right.

Chinookfan72

Yeah, why does she stay with him? Well, her marriage gives her a base from which to dual a little more equally with Devlin. She is always saying,” I love Josh, I don’t want to hurt him” to keep him at arm’s length and Devlin hears her. I expect if she had just dumped Josh and said, let’s go fuck, Devlin wouldn’t have been quite so interested. And I think she knows that. IMO she’s discovered the power game and no one playing that game, unless forced to, is going to discard a real or potential asset even if it’s not particularly valued. But this is just my latest opinion LOL.

TF

You’re welcome DND! I was hoping for another chapter tonight (well that’s a lie I was hoping for the rest of the book), but looks like we’ll have to wait another day.

Chinookfan72

If Kimmy doesn’t love Josh why does she stay with him? She isn’t reliant on Josh for anything. All the lies and manipulations are to allow her to do this one thing without Josh knowing and then she can get back with her life.. She’s ultimately going to fail and in the end I’d imagine she’s going to realize she doesn’t love Josh any more, but for now those feelings are still there. You are right in her love of competition though. Devlin obviously brings something out in her that she likes and until he came around she didn’t really understand it/ realize it. Now that it’s here and she’s getting a taste I personally think it’s pretty much all down hill for Kimmy in terms of her live of Josh from here.

Chinookfan72

Kimmy loves Josh? I thought so early on but it sure doesn’t look like it now. She manipulates him, lies to him, disbelieves him, and basically uses him for her own ends. Saying she loves Josh is just part of the game with Devlin. What I now think she loves is the competition with Devlin, the feeling of power his lust for her engenders…only a momentary glimpse in this chapter but she loves the feeling of the possibility of conquering this formidable male down the road. She is a competitor and Josh is no challenge…Devlin is. This is turning into and fascinating story.

TF

Thanks, Chinny! I'm just making conversation. :) It's almost 8PM... what happens tonight?

DavidnDaria

It was fun, James! Started with 60's on 6 (A didn't know many of the songs--that needs to change! Then again, she's younger than us and hasn't been fully, well...assimilated, yet!), then to Deep Tracks, and finally Liquid Metal with some DT, thrown in. Didn't stop except for traffic lights.

DavidnDaria

DND stay safe! borderline means close to though and I just don’t get the sense a Kimmy is anywhere near a sociopath. Like if sociopath is the state of New York I’d say Kimmy is Colorado. She isn’t the complete opposite of a sociopath (say California) but she is closer to those people than a sociopath, in my opinion. In every cheating story there seems to be a rush to hyperbole when discussing the cheater. I certainly understand why lots of people would dislike Kimmy for how she is handling her relationship, but in all other aspects of life Kimmy to be an above average human.

Chinookfan72

DnD - I'm just here to support driving around in a loaded car and singing along to the radio with people you care about, that is all ...

JamesIsAsleep

Ebola has a cure and vaccine. :) Red, I hear you, bro. I'm high risk because of my sinuses. That means I consider Daria and A high risk, as well. Everything gets wiped down. :) In the end, it's worth it!

DavidnDaria

Borderline, bro. Borderline. :)

DavidnDaria

Yeah I just think sociopath is the wrong term. She is selfish and immoral in this one segment of her life, sure, but sociopaths lack the ability to truly function in society because it’s tied to antisocial behaviors.. Kimmy is able to establish relationships, can hold a job and general adhere’s to the law. When confronted she never reacts in anger.. She is just a normal every day cheater.. Nothing special about her.

Chinookfan72

I love that Kimmy gets a thrill out of deceiving Josh - right under his nose. The fact that she loves Josh makes it even better. Kinda dark but I hope it continues to escalate. More risks and more attraction to Devlin by our sweet and complicated Kimmy is what has me turning the pages.

Wess

DnD, don't sweat the boxes, 5 min of sun should kill anything, this not Hepatitis or Ebola. Relax and have that drive then order the sim stuff. :) Wife is having a Buddhist meeting on Zoom today. Love technology!

RCH

"borderline" :) I don't know. Y'see the fun part about this for both my wife and I is that we don't agree on this at all. My argument is based around something that I think we've not read, yet: She could lose her marriage. No mention of that at all. Of course, she says she loves Josh, but then she's there with his bully and has chosen to believe him over Josh. Yeah, thankfully this is fiction, but it has probably happened many, many times IRL. (Why, when I see IRL do immediately think of "Indy Racing League"?) Oh, well... gonna watch Sim racing today. I'd get a sim, but I don't want to disinfect a shitload of boxes. It's bad enough with groceries. I think before racing, Daria, A, and I need to get out of the house...maybe go for drive and sing along to the radio. "...borderline..."

Another fine chapter. Well done! Poor Josh you F-ed up you were too weak. Kimmy played you big time and you let her.

RCH

Yes, I did a few chapters ago. If she isn't then she does a good job of acting the part. The thing that prevents her from being a classic sociopath is she does feel some guilt in her actions. Kimmy is worse than a sociopath is she makes a choice to do bad and rationalizes it away. A sociopath is broke and lacks the guilt mechanism to stop their actions. Kimmy feels it and goes ahead and does it anyway. She is just selfish and self centered. We'll find that Josh is there for her and not the other way around. She has sociopath behavior towards Josh because she wants to keep him.

RCH

The age old question of the characters of KT, are they sociopaths. It's an annual tradition, lol! Honestly, this time around I feel like accusers have more ammunition than ever to make that claim, however I think she feels too much guilt and care for Josh. The problem isnt a lack of caring for Josh right now, it's being so obsessed with what she has developing of a desire for Devlin.

JamesIsAsleep

Does anyone think Kimmy might be a borderline sociopath?

DavidnDaria

Not sure that Grace has much to teach Kimmy in the manipulation department. Perhaps, just a few practical skills and on-the-job training in using new equipment😎 Josh is in for a wild ride, a lot of it self-induced. Great chapter, KT.

I think Kimmy’s actions are probably inline with most people that cheat. She still loves her husband so the guilt is going to be there. However she’s still attracted to this new person so when her mind is on that I’m sure the guilt dissipates..

Chinookfan72

Actually think I’ve met her. Her hesitation comes off as real but it’s also an excuse. She’s deciding to be bad and the guilt she feels allows her to think she’s not a bad person for it because she truly feels guilty. Bad people don’t feel guilty, right? Not long till Devlin eroticizes her hesitation and guilt so it just increases her thrill at giving in. Looks like Josh will be indecisive enough to arrive after all the damage is done. I wonder where we are headed with our couple. KT has written Josh as smart so unless he goes suddenly stupid Kimmy’s not going to be able to fool him in the normal sense. Sexual domination of some sort, perhaps? Does it become an Open secret no one talks about? I hope she continues to deny everything , in the face of all the evidence, and sexually bullies him into doubting himself and accepting her lies as true even when he knows they’re lies. It opens the door to a lot of possibilities.

CSH

Beyond brilliant, KT. This is what you are meant to do. The indecision, the desire. Josh, driving himself crazy. My wife coined the phrase, "psycho erotic" and I think it's completely appropriate. Does anyone think Kimmy might be a borderline sociopath? She has these moments where she feels no guilt, and then suddenly, she's guilt ridden, but still allows... well... things.

Love it!

one thing to ponder for future communication between Josh and Devlin.. Did Josh block his number? in book 2 chapter 5 it states he pulled out his phone so he COULD block the number.. It doesn’t say he actually blocks it.. Subsequently, earlier in this book it says the contact and text messages are deleted, not that Devlin’s number is blocked. Now Josh is wondering why Devlin has messaged recently.. Since book 2 I’d just assumed the number is blocked.. However, now after giving it some thought, I don’t think Josh actually went through with blocking the number.. This would obviously make future contact easier, but I’d still like a face to face meeting between Devlin and Josh.. And hopefully many.. I’m still partial to a future scene where Devlin sets up a meeting with Josh at office in TO. ( Assuming there is a space for Devlin to use there while he’s in the office). somehow he is able to clear the office, but makes Kimmy stay behind as there is some business need for her to stay.. Ultimately once the office is clear, things start to get hot and heavy, between Kimmy and Devlin. Kimmy is in a state of partial undress and all the sudden the main office door opens. Devlin tells Kimmy to hide under the desk and he’ll go out and get rid of them.. However, once Kimmy is under the desk she hears Devlin’s voice get nearer and she realizes he’s talking to someone.. Devlin comes back into the office and sits in the chair ( the guest has yet to speak) and Devlin lets down his zipper and pulls his dick out.. Kimmy is already hot and bother and the thrill of being caught amps her up so she starts sucking.. She’s busy focusing on her work so she can’t really make out the guys voice. That is until Devlin cums in her throat and she swallows, and finishes cleaning Devlin’s cock.. as she backs away happy with the job she did, Kimmy over years the conversation finishing with the guest asking where his wife is anyway.. And Devlin saying something came up and Kimmy was taking care of it....

Kimmy’s internal struggle is vaccinating to read.
