Happy Sunday Morning, my friends.
While you wait for me to complete more of this month's all-new art and comics, I thought I'd share a seldom-seen look at the inks for LOCUS #1, which was released ten years ago in 2010! These are pages 1, 2, 3, 4, & 7.
All these years later, this is actually still one of my FAVORITE comics that I've ever worked on. I just had a phenomenally great time writing and drawing this little adventure. Locus is so inspiring to me. Anytime I get to draw him is pure bliss!
Of course, back then, I was still drawing everything on artboard, using a pencil and my trusty inking pens, and while the book is ten years old now, I still look back on it with so much love and great fondness. Some projects you just can't wait to forget, while others, like this one, just fill you with great memories and joy.
As a character, there's just something so lovable about LOCUS. On the one hand, he's cocky, arrogant and conceited, but then you have this really sweet and loving side to him that is deeply caring for others. And as this comic kicks off, he's on the run from the SEKTAN Authority and he's left CAMILI-CAT in order to protect him from the fascists of his home-world. This all makes him such a wonderful character to write, and physically, he's a joy to draw.
All this to say that I feel the art still holds up pretty nicely, given its age, and I feel that the inks, done by hand the traditional way, are pretty tight and clean. Not many people have seen these pages without color and I'm super happy I could share them with you. I hope you enjoy this BONUS REWARD and that you'll find it's a fun blast from the past!
Have a wonderful day, Guys. And remember, TONS of new artwork is on the way, so STAY TOONED!
