Producer Reacts to 5sos Youngblood Live Global Citizen (sort of featuring Steven In Stereo)

Comments

Thanks! I only just saw your response but appreciate it. I've always wondered about use of pedals; you see them pre- the heavy production eras and in stripped down sets, but that totally makes sense, because you wouldn't need a computer for that.

- Yes, there's a track to make it sound fuller - He's able to switch the effect that is on the guitar. For guitars it's usually a pedal that you can step on to switch between distorted and clean tones - In Red Desert Ash plays hella fast notes on which are called sextuplets Hope that helps!

Great to see you react to this performance! Could you explain a couple of comments a bit more if you see this note? (sorry for the stupid question from non-musician) -When you mentioned something about the "being creative" with the arrangement to bring the 'feel' of the studio into a recorded live performance , you mentioned something about a backing track? Does that mean there was pre-recorded sound being played + 5sos playing 5 instruments? Is that always the case with Youngblood? I had really thought all of the sound onstage was the four of them in a live performance, a little disappointed if the richness of sound isn't all live performance . -So cool to have you point out the less distorted tone on Luke's guitar, but then you said he "switched it". What does that mean? Did he do something with/on the actual guitar to make the change? Or was that something handled by a sound tech offstage? -You pointed to Ashton using a drum fill from Red Desert but "without the [something]"? Sestuplets? You gave a beat, but would that have been something that he would have also been playing on top of what we heard? [I feel like an idiot watching drummers because half the time it's like a magic trick how they're pulling these sounds out of the drum without extra limbs}. Maybe that's the precording? thanks!
