In a world brimming with iconic superheroes, it’s not often I’m served a character that leaves me peeling back the layers of curiosity. But when the ever-fabulous Patron ANDREW BROWN slipped me a request to draw BANANAMAN for his Patron Saint Commission, I found myself delightfully intrigued by this juicy mystery!
Who, you ask, is BANANAMAN? Oh, darlings, prepare for a tasty treat! Hailing from the cheeky pages of British comic books, BANANAMAN is the ultimate parody of caped crusaders. This delectable hero transforms into a chiseled, spandex-clad stud whenever he sinks his teeth into a ripe, succulent banana.
Yes, you heard that right -- one bite, and he’s ready to peel away the ordinary to reveal something extraordinary!
First bursting onto the scene in the UK comic "Nutty" on February 16, 1980, drawn by the talented John Geering, BANANAMAN was the back-page star who left readers hungry for more. And let’s just say, I couldn’t resist giving this fruity icon a Fillion-verse makeover!
I’ve kept the playful essence of the character while adding a dash of my signature spice—think bold lines, a cheeky smirk, and a physique that’s positively ripe for admiration.
Andrew, you saucy visionary, thank you for this delightfully unexpected commission. It was an absolute bunch of fun to bring this BANANAMAN to life, complete with all his tantalizing peels. Feast your eyes, my gorgeous Patrons, and let me know if this banana-fueled hero leaves you craving more!

I absolutely LOVE that this one was a fun surprise for you, Winstion1. Living in Canada, I was never exposed to the character myself. He was a really fun discovery, and I greatly enjoyed drawing him for the first time. 2025-08-15 16:11:07 +0000 UTCI have to say, the moment I read the header of my email, Bananaman, I had to open the email as a UK guy here, I know of Bananaman, he moved to the Dandy comic and is now in the Beano comic. He even had his own TV show over here.
