People, today I am really happy because I kind of think I learned something maybe new and important...
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
So yeah, the thing is, yesterday I was talking to a cook in a restaurant near my workplace. ( Really old guy, 70 or older maybe )
We were talking about how almost anything can be turned into art if you exercise your craft with skill and passion.
Kind of the standard talk when two people with artistic pretentions meet...┐( ´ д ` )┌
Anyway, I told him that I had recently been struggling to improve my drawing speed.
Then he answered me with what can only be described as "pearls of wisdom"...!
He told me:
-"Speed is not a skill you can learn, it is a symptom of your experience."
Mind... f*cking...blown...Σ(°ロ°)
I know I'm doing a very bad job of conveying the seriousness of this conversation, but for me this was something really meaningful.
Until now my approach to drawing faster has only been to move my hands quickly and not think too much about details.
I was completely wrong...(ノ°益°)ノ ┻━━┻
What the old man told me means that when you have confidence in your abilities, you understand and master what you are doing you stop wasting time trying to figure out how things work and instead you spend your time actually creating things quickly and efficiently.
Once again, I am really happy to have learned this, especially because I thought that I already knew all the most fundamental concepts of art.
Cince that moment until now I am still laughing with joy.
There is always something new to learn, it's not just a phrase that you engrave into a mug to look quirky and interesting.
It's actual truth...!
