HI, A&J! I've recently binged your series of Rocky reactions. Great stuff. I humbly suggest that you skip "Rocky V", it's pretty much universally disliked. Stallone said that he made "Rocky Balboa" (Rocky 6) as an apology for no. 5. It's maybe the best of the whole series. Then be sure to watch "Creed", as a new generation takes up the story.

2023-09-04 07:05:35 +0000 UTCHey Amber and Jay! I’m in South Carolina where we have been ravaged by Hurricane Idalia all day. I finally had a chance to watch this and I loved it. I felt emotional during the same scenes you both did. It brought back memories of seeing this for the first time years ago. Like you, I was gutted by what happened to Apollo. This movie came out during the Cold War and sadly we’re seeing it happen again. Rocky’s speech at the end was so eloquently stated. Supposedly, Stallone was inspired to write this because of Max Schmelling and Joe Louis. Drago was like a robot. I could almost see Arnold Schwarzenegger playing him, but Dolph Lundgren did a great job. I love Duke training Rocky. Even in the first two movies, Duke saw how great Rocky could be before anyone else did including Mickey. Remember him watching Rocky punching the meat on TV? He told Apollo to pay attention and Apollo ignored him. I’m the second film, he warned Apollo again not to fight Balboa. “I saw you whip that man like no man had ever been whipped before and the man kept coming after you!” There are two more “Rocky” movies. The next one is the least favorite of most fans, but I think it gets a bad rap. I think you’ll both enjoy it. 😊 Hope Jay is doing better.
