The end where Truman's boat hits the edge of the dome was shot on what is (IMHO) one of Paramount Picture's coolest stages, The Blue Sky Tank. Most day's out of the year, it's a parking lot, and how most folks who take the studio tour see it. I've also seen it booked out as an event space. But when booked as a wet stage, they clear the parking and empty that big tower of water they have on the lot into the "tank". I've only ever seen it used as a wet stage once, doing some pickup shots for the Baywatch movie. Being a Star Trek nerd, I also know the conclusion to Star Trek IV was shot on that stage. https://www.paramountstudios.com/blue-sky-tank.html

At least they came around in the end and was glad for him to find his freedom. The evil producer, Ed Harris, is in another movie that you should watch called the Abyss, but he's a good guy. Written and directed by James Cameron who also did Titanic and Terminator I and II. Amber will particularly like it because....aliens...

2023-11-03 02:01:56 +0000 UTCFor Jay & Amber! This movie was filmed in Seaside, FL., which is 50 miles East of where I live. (Navarre) The halfway point between these 2 beach towns would be Destin, to give you an idea of where this is. And yes, our beaches ARE this beautiful in the Panhandle. Seaside was a "planned community" and that is exactly what the town looks like. When they called for extras my friends and I were going to head that way but we had to work. All the extras are from the area. I know a few of them, so I have watched this many times to try to find some of them. I so wish we would have been able to do it! Thanks for including this!

2023-11-02 22:16:16 +0000 UTCA perfect movie for my cold and cynical showbiz heart. 🤨 I truly believe if the Hollywood bloodsuckers thought they could actually get away with it, this would happen. Although reality TV as a genre had some start before this movie, it pre-dates the big explosion of the genre. Almost prophetic in just how popular it has become. I have my reality TV guilty pleasure (90 Day Fiance), but it's always helpful to remember when watching them that every one of those “candid and real” moments you see on those shows happen with a film crew hanging around. And is often very much produced to make good television. I had a teacher in college who used to do live TV and soap operas, so one assignment was to direct a live 3-camera shoot. I learned a lot, most especially that I suck at it and decided that single-camera and edit was my jam. But it takes a special talent to do that well which I very much respect. The product placement and ads were hilarious too. One of my college buddies actually got a gig with a TV show not long after moving to LA, and his one and only job was making sure the products they got paid to feature were adequately displayed. Nuts. But it is show business, and you got to pay those bills. Wayne's World also features a funny product placement gag, if I recall. Director Peter Weir has a good number of good films to his name, but if I had to pick a couple I think you'd most enjoy, perhaps try Witness (1984, starring Harrison Ford) and Dead Poets Society (1989 starring Robin Williams).

Amber, maybe soon we can get y’all to watch “Troy” since you like greek mythology so much…and “Big Fish” for some whimsical fantasy.

2023-11-02 19:59:46 +0000 UTCPeter Weir, the director of this movie, made a cool adventure movie that is set during the Napoleonic Wars in the early 1800s called Master and Commander the Far Side of the World I should have placed the movie in my suggestions for adventures so I think you'd enjoy this It's based on a series of historical fiction novels
