Hey guys! Jack Black in Shallow Hal with Gwyneth Paltrow is a great movie. I saw it with my mom when it was in theaters and we laughed so much.

I second The Emperor's New Groove. Even to this day, still underrated.

The other thing not recognized was Meatloaf playing Jack's dad and singing that part.

I should have warned you about this movie. Super crude, although that does give you lots funny and uncomfortable moments. Not really the wheel house for your channel, but it is fun to watch you guys squirm!

I’ll admit that don’t remember all the crude humor from this. But yeah, it’s pretty bad. 😆
Amber, I think you would like Nacho Libre. It’s silly but it’s also wholesome and charming. One of the writers is Mike White who also co-wrote School of Rock. Definitely a different vibe from Tenacious D.

After watching this, it's fun to see Jack Black in Bernie, where he is in a more serious role. He's surprisingly good at being not-funny.
Based on a true story of a murder that takes you through why he murder someone and how it affected the town, like an investigation style movie. There is an unexpected twist to the story (a real twist), it's not your typical murder story.

I have a feeling Amber would like A Clockwork Orange, such a strange and disturbing movie.

I'm not sure they are going to get to Trek any time soon or at all, and I would hate that to be the reason why they never see Galaxy Quest. It's still really funny even without the Trek knowledge, and they will still enjoy it.

actually good comedies These are the newest versions. some have old classic versions of them. not talking about those. lol
Hot shots / hot shots part deux : like naked gun
Dumb and Dumber
Men in Black /MIB II
50 first dates: Rom Com but our guy can handle it.
Meet the parents: Rom com but our guy can handle this one too.
Fever pitch : sports related
Babe / Babe pig in the city. :if someone doesn't like the movie babe i don't like
them lol.
City Slickers / city slickers II: City folk herding cattle what's not to love
Major Payne :it's scary how much i talk along with that movie. so many good
lines.
Guarding Tess
Sandlot : Classic movie. i have seen this an obscene amount of times.
Galaxy Quest: but only after you have watched a lot of star trek. probably best comedy in this list. Not a single line of wasted dialogue. it's amazing.
The Emporer's new groove: so funny + the kids will love it.
Joe Dirt: off beat quirky
Blast from the past: kid grows up in underground bunker with family cause they
think there was nuclear war but there wasn't and the guy has to go out and buy
provisions for family after they been there 30 years. It's a Rom Com that our guy
can handle
Adams Family / Adams family values: Comedy gold.
Crocodile Dundee
Tucker and dale vs evil. : after you put in more work on the horror movies this will be one of your fav comedies
The Mighty Ducks

If someone with a time machine from 2023 went back and told 2002 me that Jack Black of Tenacious D would be a premiere star in projects aimed at young audiences, I would not have believed it. But yeah, the guy who wrote gags about doing push ups with your genitals is doing Kung Fu Panda, Goose Bumps and Jumanji movies. I think School of Rock was what may have turned that around for him. When I first saw it, I thought “Tenacious D for Kids”. And also, IMHO, a better movie than the actual Tenacious D movie.
I think they're funny as the lamest musicians to ever be so convinced of their own awesomeness. A great music comedy duo and I love their first album. But I don't think this hangs together too well as a movie. I think it might have played better to you if you were already a fan of The D, but even that didn't work for me.
Also, classic film reference that confused you: The gang in white long johns, masks, and bowler hats that beat up Jack is a reference to the Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange, where the violent gang wore similar garb. It is Hollywood, so maybe there is a gang of vicious film nerds dressing up as The Droogs, but if so, they don't make the local papers much.
