2023-06-27 23:40:13 +0000 UTCI'm kinda shocked only one person cross referenced The Squad's love of Steve Martin with their love of Eddie Murphy, and come up with the recommendation for "Bowfinger". Sure, I'm more keen on "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", but that one strikes me as an easy layup for those two. Also surprising is no mention of "Leap of Faith", where Steve Martin plays a con man who turned his craft to the religious revival business. Good movie with a solid cast all around.

My mom sat me & my siblings down to watch this when I was around 7 or 8......I remember laughing hard my stomach hurt at the end of the movie; instant favorite after that 1st viewing, me & my siblings speak the language of "movie/TV quotes" & we still do a bunch from this movie & I'm touched Jay did 1 of my most favorites "the stuuuuuufff"🤣. I honestly forget where I knew Steve Martin from heroes this, but it made kw fall in love with him, he really is a 1 of a kind creative comedy genius. Bernadette Peter's who plays Marie is a Broadway legend (I only recently learned they were dating at the time of this), but I knew her from being the Stepmother in the Brandy & Whitney Houston Cinderella (I think I saw these 2 around the same time when that Cinderella was new). Other Steve Martin movies I'd recommend are: 1. Bowfinger (STEVE MARTIN & EDDIE MURPHY....ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW, 1 of my favorites from both) 2. Father Of The Bride 1 3. Father of The Bride 2 4. Bringing Down The House (Steve Martin & Queen Latifah!) 5. L.A. Story (I actually intend on doing a proper Steve deep dive too cause I know he's got a lot more iconic & legendary movies I haven't seen in full)
