I guess Morgan Freeman did the role in the off-Broadway production of the play, so he had a lot of time working on that role before taking it to this film, which probably helps make him so rich and deep as a character. As squeamish as Amber can get about violence in things like Pulp Fiction or The Godfather, she isn't so bothered and maybe even a bit fascinated by psycho serial killers. If you're looking to get your serial killer fix, and a dose of Morgan Freeman at the same time, you need to check out Seven. Just don't expect the feel-good vibes he gave off here.
