Musicals Poll
Added 2024-01-29 18:18:36 +0000 UTCHey guys!
Wanted to give the musical poll another shot. Although Sister Act was awesome and definitely satisfied our comedic need we wanted to give some of the other ones that fit the Musical genre a bit better a shot.

Hi, The original 1973 The Wicker Man is a musical. I'll keep suggesting iteverywhere until infinity and beyond 😊

2024-08-21 04:12:04 +0000 UTCSince both of you are teachers. I know you will love Mr. Holland's Opus. Story of music teacher (Richard Dryfuss) who makes a difference in the lives of his students and fights for the creativity when funding gets cut.

2024-02-09 09:35:06 +0000 UTCMoulin Rouge (2001) !
Terdell Ferguson
2024-02-08 21:03:48 +0000 UTCYou next musical poll should include "Singing in the Rain" - it is a classic musical and one of the stars is Debbie Reynolds (Carrie Fisher "Princess Leia" mother) "Oklahoma" - cuz it makes sense "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" - you'll see where Madonna got her inspiration for Material Girl.

2024-02-02 01:41:07 +0000 UTCThe sound of music is a classic but right now in this country I don't think we should promote anything with Nazism in it sort of a harsh subject right now. Plus I'm really not a fan of Julie Andrews. Mamma Mia all that ABBAmusic so great, the Stars over the top the acting was great. Storyline with superb excellent directing. Come on now Pierce Brosnan in a musical? Moulin rouge even a great musical much better than sound of music in my opinion. Plus you got Obi-Wan in it. It's a comic venture as well. And a good looking redhead everybody drools over what's your name.? I'm just kidding, everybody knows Nicole Kidman.

2024-01-31 00:55:35 +0000 UTCThe Sound of Music is a CLASSIC, and I remember seeing it in the theatre. (It even has an INTERMISSION....that is when in the old days they sort of split the movie, so you could always take a break, get something to eat, etc, and then come back for the 2nd half of the movie. Keep Momma Mia in the wings though, because of the ABBA songs.

2024-01-30 03:28:15 +0000 UTCno contest... Sound of Music Please Now can we get Moulin Rouge for next Musical Poll

2024-01-30 02:18:24 +0000 UTCSound of Music is over rated. I have never been able to sit and watch the whole thing through in one sitting.

2024-01-30 02:08:06 +0000 UTCHamilton is an absolute must watch, but not when pitted against The Sound of Music.

2024-01-29 23:44:10 +0000 UTCWell, even though I believe Chicago should be on this list, I’m a sound of music kind of guy…

2024-01-29 20:24:21 +0000 UTCI want these guys to watch older movies - 1940s, 1950s, 1960s. Too many nineties and 2000s stuff already
Daven Rajangam
2024-01-29 20:19:28 +0000 UTCI had a terrible time, deciding between "The Sound of Music", and "Mama Mia"; but, SoM is a classic, and everyone needs to see those. At some point, I would love to see "Rent", and "Chicago", on a poll, for Musicals.
Cat Whisperer
2024-01-29 20:18:42 +0000 UTCOriginal West Side Story for sure.

2024-01-29 20:18:13 +0000 UTCThe Von Trapp Family was a real singing group from Austria. ‘The Sound of Music’ is based on their lives, with some details altered to make the story more dramatic. But that’s Hollywood. Growing up, it was a family tradition in our home to watch ‘The Sound of Music’ every year. (It would always air between the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays.) I guess that’s why this movie holds a special place in my heart and I’m giving it my vote.

2024-01-29 19:40:22 +0000 UTCSound of Music is a complete must one of the top films of all time and a female singer who you’ve not yet reacted to on your music Chanel. Dame Julie Andrews is in anybodies running for most beautiful female singing voice ever as well as an incredible actress.

2024-01-29 19:39:15 +0000 UTCThe Sound of Music better win! It's so good! It may not be an award giant like west side story but it's still a landmark movie You'll love the scenery It was filmed on location in Salzburg Austria 🇦🇹 and its gorgeous You'll especially be in awe when the movie starts, seeing the alps and the surrounding hills and rivers

2024-01-29 19:22:44 +0000 UTCNo Singin in the Rain again. Oh well, going for West Side Story. The Sound of Music is overrated and too long IMO
Casey Salley
2024-01-29 19:05:10 +0000 UTCWest Side Story (1961) won 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture. Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins shared directing credit with Wise being the overall director and Robbins being the co-director and choreographer. The soundtrack was number one on the album charts for 54 weeks. Many of the vocal performances were dubbed by superior singers to make the highest quality overall performance possible. The dancing is all real including spitting on the back of a guys head from 15 feet away in the opening. Romeo and Juliet reimagined in NYC in the 1950's.

2024-01-29 18:32:46 +0000 UTCWest Side Story needs to be the original, not the Spielberg version from 2021.

2024-01-29 18:26:19 +0000 UTCfor real, HAMILTON is GOAT

2024-01-29 18:25:52 +0000 UTCI choose to vote from write in nomination. Eddie and the Cruisers. You guy will love it.

2024-01-29 18:25:41 +0000 UTCAgree that recordings of stage productions almost needs to be it's own category. They aren't considered films.

2024-01-29 18:24:29 +0000 UTCThe best modern musical is LA LA Land.
William Benton
2024-01-29 18:24:17 +0000 UTCHamilton!! I do love the other options, but really think Jay would LOVE the rap and RnB and hip hop in Hamilton. I've been begging for this one, please help me out, Rob Squad Fam! 😂🙏

2024-01-29 18:24:17 +0000 UTCChicago and Moulin Rouge need added to the next lineup poll!
Tracy Geier
2024-01-29 18:23:08 +0000 UTCThe Sound of Music first appeared on stage. It is actually based on a true story of the Von Trapp Family’s escape from Nazi occupied Austria.
Elizabeth Franco
2024-01-29 18:22:00 +0000 UTCI still say The Moulin rouge.... amber will love it. Guaranteed
MovieMagician
2024-01-29 18:21:54 +0000 UTCAt some point you need to watch all of these. I think you should start with Mama Mia but order doesn’t really matter.
Mary Alice
2024-01-29 18:21:01 +0000 UTCWest Side Story is the best of these. The Sound of Music is classic and has to be on the list. The rest are inconsequential. Hamilton is not a movie, it is a recording of the stage production.
William Benton
2024-01-29 18:20:54 +0000 UTCMusicals are not for me. However, once you watch one of these, there’s an awesome movie, you should watch about a guy joining a band and living his dream. it’s called rockstar and stars Mark Wahlberg, and Jennifer Aniston
Michael Lynch
2024-01-29 18:20:51 +0000 UTCIf the Sound of Music loses to ANYTHING else on this list I don't know what to make of the world. 😂
We'reAllMadHere
2024-01-29 18:20:42 +0000 UTCI think West Side Story, Hamilton and Sound of Music are all must watch. But I'm voting Hamilton because its the most modern and you guys would love it. (To be clear of the format: Its a professional recording of the stage play, done VERY well and the play has great production value)
