YT EDIT CARRIE (1976) | FIRST TIME WATCHING | MOVIE REACTION

Lots of folks have pointed to some great Stephen King adaptions already on the channel, but somehow "Misery" never got name-dropped. Another great one we've seen here. This was the breakout film for director Brian DePalma. Among his most beloved films are probably Scarface (1983), and The Untouchables (1987). I'm more a fan of the second, but both worthy of a watch on the channel. He also directed the first Mission Impossible movie, which is a film series I think would make for some good viewing here as well.

Glad you brought up Maximum Overdrive so I don't have to. Probably the film adaption that King was most involved with during production, and it is... not good. (IMHO) But some solid viewing choices listed in the original post.

I love Christine! That movie is the reason why a ‘58 Plymouth Fury is my dream car!

I believe they already watched Stand By Me. Cujo is also great, but then again, anything with Dee Wallace Stone is great!

Thank you for sprinkling the thrillers throughout the year, and not just doing them all in October. Maybe when October comes around, sprinkle some more light hearted/non spooky/horror focused movies in? October gets so heavy when all the reactors only focus on scary stuff.

"Stand by me" is also Stephen King if you haven't watched that on here yet. Cujo is good too

I believe Sissy (Carrie) Piper (mom) were both nominated for academy award for this movie

I love that it was a build up all to the prom scene and that last jump scare. Classic!

What about Maximum Overdrive?

Casey Salley

I went as Carrie last Halloween. Poured the blood all over me and everything. All the young people had no clue who I was. But people my age and older did. I love Sissy Spacek too! She won an Academy Award for Coal Miner’s Daughter which is another great one to watch!

'74 was the last time i remember a teacher paddling students that was 4th grade.

All great reads also.

Amber you should read the books of his movies you've seen. All of the above mentioned are great reads. Cujo, and Christine are two more Stephen King movies a bit more on the scarier side. This was another quality choice.

Mark Twain

Yeah, it's that last scene that scared me. Stephen King wrote this and threw it in the trash. His wife fished it out and convinced him it was good. You've reacted to several of his works - "Stand By Me" - "The Shining" "Carrie" "Green Mile" and "Shawshank"

Never saw a teacher smack a student open-handed, but there were several misbehaving students I knew who got paddled. I think the holes that had been drilled into the paddle made for a more memorable experience. Being a good kid, though, I never had to worry about it. A classic horror film from 1981 that you might like is 'An American Werewolf in London.' The special effects are amazing, even by today's standards. It has a little humor injected into it as well. Dark humor, of course.

Stephen King is a powerhouse and just can't make a bad movie. You have also reacted to The Shining and Stand By Me. There are just so many Stephen King movies, many of them I just am not brave enough to watch. There are a few more that I would recommend though. Christine, 1983 Cujo, 1983 The Dead Zone, 1983 Firestarter, (The original 1984 with Drew Barrymore, not the remake from 2022.)

Woo Hoo....a great movie starring good ole Karma! Get ready for some scares too!!
