Important Info - Patron Safety/Privacy!
Added 2022-04-18 22:08:59 +0000 UTCI'm sure a lot of you have already heard, but for those of you that haven't....A small group of CC Creators were found to be "tracking"/doxxing their patrons. Here's all the info outlined by reddit user Lovechildintherain!
TLDR - A group of CC creators that offer exclusive downloads only for their patrons are butthurt because their precious exclusive content is being passed around. So, they put unique identifiers in their .packages to "bust" the patrons that are redistributing it. It's important to note that they can only do this for downloads that they send to their patrons individually through DM's.

Any creator that doesn't honor EA's ToS, is not in any position to have their own ToS/ToU. As far as I'm concerned, theirs is null and void. Even if they did follow EA's, it still doesn't give them the right to do this.
If a creator is following EA's ToS please respect their ToS and do not share their content while it's in Early Access. Sharing their content while it's in early access is disrespectful and hurtful to those creators that are following the rules.
Although this doesn't affect what I do at the moment, I still wanted to make sure all of my supporters/followers have this information because I'm a protective mama bear! Also, to reassure you that I have never done this and never will (if/when I release CC), nor would I share anyone's personal info. It enrages me that these creators did this to their own patrons. Additionally, my future CC will never be permalocked!
Just to clarify, my Daily Summaries I give to my patrons are not considered content that would fall under EA's ToS. The only reason they're permalocked is because by the time I'd make it available to the public they would be irrelevant. Plus, after 7 days I delete the google summary sheets that I share anyways.

However, if it's a link for everyone to download, then you have nothing to worry about. So, if the only way to get certain content from a creator that you're patroned to is them having to DM it to you....That would be a huge red flag and they likely have an identifier in the package they sent to you. Hope I explained that better?

You say that the creators involved can only add this tracking through sending the package directly through dm. Do you mean literally a package file attached to a dm? Or could that also include links to sites like We Transfer? Hoping my questions makes sense!
