CaVE and GBA DisplayEx Update

I know this is a bit soon for a CaVE update. And neither tie into any NSO updates. But the new build of CaVE is important.

CaVE has been in private beta for a really long time. And thats because I have not felt it was ready for wider usage. And really, 2 persisting issues have been why. Mod Synchronization and Issues With Database Migration From v1.4 of CaVE to v1.5.

The migration issue I addressed already, but the mod synchronization issue has lingered despite attempts. But now I think I finally figured out the issue, and addressed it.

And because both of these critical issue should now hopefully be fixed... I would like to start eying v1.5 for a public release!

To get to that, these fixes need to be tested. I need to have some sense of confidence that they solve the issues. So I needed this build out asap. Because my hope is to release v1.5 publicly... for Christmas.

As for the GBA mod update... That is kind of related. But more importantly, its related to the recent update for GB/GBC DisplayEx. Similar to that, this update has a change related to giving users better control over the color output of the emu. The implementation is different though, since Adjust Colors did that already. Adjust Colors is a option you can select for each game in CaVE. But what this DisplayEx update does is allow you to skip dealing with that option on a game-by-game basis. In the setting menu, you can select Adjust All, Adjust None. Those options will just ignore what is selected per game, and force all games to display the same. Honestly, its a option that NSO GBA should have already in some way, as GBC has a comparable option.

The timing of this new GBA DisplayEx change is great for testing the new CaVE mod synchronization change. As you can drop the new DisplayEx in your mods folder, and see the red "NSOM Mismatch" button. Pressing that will update to the new mod. And syncing directly after that should now lead to the mod working right away. No more uncheck, sync, check, sync shuffle BS!

In the spirit of testing, I have provided a link to the older version of the GBA DisplayEx mod. So both can be downloaded, and copied in as needed to switch between. Just move the older mod to a different folder so you can rename it first. Do not have a nsom with the "_pre-adjust_colors_change" part in the name. This would lead to having 2 v1.11 mods, and only one would be detected/used.

Now... If I am satisfied enough to finally release a public build for Christmas... what will that mean for Patreon?

Patreon supporters are still my primary focus! And to better convey that, the public release of CaVE v1.5 will have a delay. At the very least, on when stock database updates are available, but probably with when exe/rar updates are available. This is to ensure that supporting the project is more desirable.

DisplayEx and DisplayEx Tool will NOT BE GOING PUBLIC!

These only exist, specifically because I wanted supporters to have more value for supporting me and CaVE. If there was no patreon/donation supporting... There would be no DisplayEx at all. As such, they are entirely a premium project and will remain as such.

It is my hope that DisplayEx, DisplayEx Tool, and non-delayed releases of CaVE and stock database updates... will be enough to continue to encourage people to support the project and keep it going.

Really... I am only releasing CaVE publicly, to appease those that feel entitled to it, to the result of them not having a reason to leak the private build. There would be no value in doing so, as any updates release to patreon... will be available soon enough.

I don't think DisplayEx is something any of those losers should feel entitled to, as it is not something they ever had. It has only ever existed privately.

We will see how things go...

Please help test and get things moving forward for this Christmas goal!

If it helps... There are things I want to work on for CaVE, that I have shelved until after its stable enough to release publicly. So that may be something to look forward to!
