In the last year I've had an on-going dialogue with journalist Nathan Taylor Pemberton on the topics of gen Z social media and counter messaging from the left.
The last few years have dramatically reshaped legacy, alt and social media. As mainstream platforms become increasing sanitized, made to work for big brands and establishment parties, counter-politics and counter-culture will move off platform into "dark forest" spaces. (Thanks to Carly Busta of the New Models podcast for coining this useful term.)
On the early side of this online shift, our thriving Discord community has been hard at work and I'm excited to announce the soft launch of the blog Do Not Research. A very special thanks to our co-directors Abbey Pusz and Margo Bergamini, to Ian G. for the inspiring web design and to Jak Ritger for publishing.
If you are a Patron but not yet in our community Discord, I encourage you to join by connecting your account. We recently had art & tech critic Mike Pepi give a lecture last Sunday (3/21). (This recording will be made available in a few weeks.) I think you will likely find that time spent on Discord will result in more meaningful news, links, opinions, etc, than time spent doom-scrolling on Twitter or other mainstream platforms.
Coming up next month:
A *very* unique episode of My Political Journey and Douglas Lain of Zer0 Books joins me in a podcast me to discuss his recent "shadowban".
