An animal smokes a cigarette in the dark

Animating in sillhouettes is fun! It feels like it should be less work because there's less detail, but without the internal information communicating form and depth, it's hard to know where the edges are meant to go. So for this shot, I started by animating some cutout pieces as a guide, where I figured out the rotations. Then I animated frame-by-frame over the top to wrap skin around the pieces, and to add in the arms.

I would love to see a process video on how you do more handdrawn stuff in flash! The video you did with the parrots was super informative - it'd be so interesting to see your process for symbol/handdrawn hybrids. (sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense, i've being using tvpaint for 5 years and just now got into flash about a month ago so i'm still learning the ins and outs haha)
