making a wobbling blob
Added 2022-12-20 02:23:01 +0000 UTCA little bit of redrawn animation, in amongst all this 3D/2D photo cutout nonsense!
It's only an amorphous, nondescript blob, BUT I thought I'd show you how it was put together.
This shot might look a little abstract out of context (also I've taken out some stuff to avoid spoilers), but never mind what it's meant to be, we're just here for the blob.
The shadows and light in the blob are made of flat drawings, even though the shadow especially is blurred to the point that it barely registers anymore. I don't know why, but I really like making things where hand drawn information is dictating to the software how things look and move, even if you don't see the drawing directly. A blurry shadow is probably one of the simplest examples, but I think it can be really effective!
I'm going to keep working on this film through the Christmas period because I'm SO close to finishing, but this will probably be my last update on here until at least after Christmas day.

I completely agree! As I mentioned, I've taken some stuff out of the shot to avoid spoilers and to highlight the blob- so I'll just say the perspective on the hat reads differently in the final shot (and is partially obscured), so it works a bit better than it does here

It's not something I've used much before, but I wanted it to feel a bit like the bending was caused by refraction from the drip- so the impression of a still image being distorted was exactly what I wanted in that instance!

2023-01-03 23:22:25 +0000 UTCI’m wondering if you would want to do a slight green tinge and a blur effect at the bottom of the hat, so that it looks like you’re looking at the bottom of it through the blob. As it stands, the perspective is a bit confusing.
