40 for 40, Chapter 13: Numbers

Chapter 13 of 15 of my new weight gain/stuck story, 40 for 40!

CHAPTER 13: NUMBERS

Roger’s birthday was tomorrow, but before she gave Roger his present, she had to know.

Marion hadn’t stepped on the scale in months, not since the number 292 gave her a panic attack. At some point she must have crossed the 300 threshold, but she didn’t necessarily want to know and she didn’t want Roger to know. He’d probably bake her a cake in celebration.

For Roger’s birthday, and only for his birthday, she could allow him to watch her step on a scale.

But she had to know in advance what it was going to say. She had to brace herself. A shocking number could derail the entire birthday present. She had to prepare herself, she had to steel her mind.

She took out the scale from where she hid it in her closet.

Marion pulled out the slip of paper from the pharmacy, “Max Weight Exceeded” with a hand scribbled “260?” beside it.

She looked into the mirror.

The woman who stepped on the scale in the pharmacy before the start of the plan was unrecognizable. Even the woman who stood on this same scale months ago was a distant memory.

Marion was wide, Marion was round, Marion was fat. Fatter.

She smiled at her reflection.

She’d done it.

She’d made a plan, she’d stuck with it.

Even when it terrified her.

And now it was coming to an end. She closed her eyes.

One foot on the scale- SPIN -then the other- SPIN

CLUNK.

Marion exhaled and opened her eyes, looking down at her enormous belly. She bent over to see the number on the scale.

0

Marion shot upright, eyes wide.

She stepped off the scale and took a deep breath. She got back on but didn’t hear anything, the scale was silent. She bent down to read.

0

She stepped back off.

0

The numbers weren’t spinning anymore.

She picked up the scale and shook it. Nothing. The disc of numbers inside the scale had spun around back to zero and just stopped.

It was broken.

She broke it.

She’d exceeded the maximum weight. Again!

Marion flipped the scale over.

“Max Weight: 330lbs”

Marion sat down on the bed, looking at the slip of paper from the pharmacy in one hand and the broken bathroom scale in the other.

She didn’t know where her plan had started or where it ended.

She’d gone from Max Weight Exceeded to Max Weight Exceeded.

The only thing she knew was the old pharmacy scale maxed out at 250, and her old bathroom scale maxed out at 330.

How much weight had she gained? 80?

She knew since her stellar first month’s gain that she’d sailed way past her initial 40lb goal ages ago. She’d naively hoped she’d kept her gain limited to 50 or maybe 60lbs, but all her efforts to stem the tide had failed.

Not knowing how much she weighed frustrated her to no end.

She had a vision of giving Roger a birthday card with the number of pounds she’d gained for his birthday written inside.

But now she had no numbers.

Obviously the really present was sitting before her, spread out in her lap, her prize belly. But the number had been part of her plan since its inception, it was supposed to be 40 for 40.

Marion stared at the slip of paper and the broken scale.

She wasn’t entirely empty handed…
