It’s an analogy/comparison between love and how an alligator pursues their prey. An alligator doesn’t immediately alert their prey that they are in danger even though they should be aware regardless. That’s why the song is not intense from the beginning because it’s about the luring just like people who become highly attracted to one another even though they shouldn’t. They keep falling for each other and getting more curious as to why but curiosity also killed the damn cat. Therefore by the end of song it gets more intense because they realised they are trapped but can’t get out of it just like a prey.
