XP Detailed Fabric / Part 01

XP Detailed Fabric / Part 01

Hi. To achieve it you should use flow field dynamic modifier. Create a spline and use it as a path for your cloth. You should place spline in flow field (along spline mode)

Mikhail

Is it possible to apply this technique to a moving plane? I've keyframed plane across two positions but when I run the sim the cloth only appears in the original position.

Ken Liu

You can bake it use xp cache and remap it. Or you can bake it to alembic file. Alembic bake subframes so you can remap it as well.

Mikhail

Best way to time ramp the speed of cloth to slow the movement down? Or.. is it more of changing fps for renders?

Chadwick Halbritter

Use right click bake as an alembic. Alembic very useful format. Pretty stable for most cases.

Mikhail

How do I convert this to a saved / cached state - mesh that I can use as an object somewhere?

Ken Kelleher Kelleher

For cloth sim I was using XPClothFx but your workflow seems to be much better. Thank you.

Roger Mac

You’re welcome

Mikhail

Thanks for this

Charles Agnew

Just copy your first plane object and move it. As it particles based fabric sim your objects will not intersect each other. One note. It’s might be needs more substeps to keep correct result.

Mikhail

This is wonderful, thank you! I'm just now getting into X-Particles, can't wait to go back through you're previous tutorials! One question, if I wanted to have two cloth objects in the simulation where their geometry does not intersect, is it as simple as giving them both xpCollider tags? Or is there more to it?

Brandon

You’re welcome. Glad to hear that. Second part coming soon. )

Mikhail

This is a great technique to better manipulate cloth with XP. Thanks for sharing as always!! 👍

Thx 🙏 bro)

Mikhail

Before even watching it 10/10 as usual :)
