Stuart: I refuse to accept Sigma Star Saga as retro. In fact, I refuse to accept the Game Boy Advance as retro, let alone one of its latter-day titles. But it is, and it is getting a well-deserved, long-awaited re-release, therefore I have deigned to cover it after being given the opportunity by WayForward to grill Matt Bozon and Adam Tierney about this most Star Trek TOS of The Guardian Legend homages.
If you are unfamiliar with Sigma Star Saga, you should know that it is a shmup-RPG that incorporates both the “walking around looking at things” and “flying around shooting things” genres with aplomb, and its upcoming DX re-release buffs out its few but noticeable frustrations for what is sure to be a superb game to revisit.
Because it’s me, I steered the conversation in the direction of WayForward’s older, licensed titles, given an excuse to sing their praises. Thankfully Matt and Adam were game to get into the history of the beloved development house, not to mention its future. I enjoyed talking with them! I hope you will enjoy listening to me talking with them!
Big Ups to editor Greg Leahy for taking a recording beset with audio problems and not just salvaging it but saving it. Seriously, only the Biggest of Ups, thank you Greg!
Also, check out the episode art by Leeann Hamilton. Good, isn’t it? Big Ups to Leeann Hamilton, too.
