Dev Blog #05

Another wonderful post, another wonderful week in development ^_^

Let me jump right into it.

Voodoo Monkey - Art Assets 

I was able to crush a lot art this week.  We're getting ever so closer!  There's a lot of art assets going into this build and hopefully it'll be gloriously dirty.  I actually took off Friday so I can have a 3 day dev session which helped a lot. I'm still working on the new backgrounds for the two new areas as those always take me awhile, but working in 3d and moving to sketching concepts over those grey boxes has been helping develop ideas much faster.  This also made me realize, at some point in the upcoming updates I want to redraw Lyla's body sprite and sneak it in.  Her sprite was the first "released" asset created for the game so it's technically the oldest, and I've much improved since then.  I ended up drawing a new body for her in the new shower scenes that I'm really liking a lot.

Funny fact, Lyla's sprite alone consists of a total 183 individual art assets to generate how you see her in game.  Oh dang, I just checked how many sprites are currently in the game (not counting the build we're working on) and there's over ~1026 art assets in the game.  Lyla's character takes up 20% of total art files @.@

Anyways, by the end of the week, I sent Pale Horse a good sized asset package to put into the game along with a bunch of stand in art that he can use for testing and incorporating into the scenes.  What this means is when I finish the rest of the art assets, they can just drop right in with the scenes mostly coded in which will greatly reduce the final coding and testing passes which means faster release for this update which is exciting.

Pale Horse - Bug Hunting 

Pale Horse has been hating life as of late.  In his masochistic ways of introducing his refactored code and merging it into my build has opened up the most epic of bug hunts.  As you can see from his list, he's squashed all them but a few random ghosts are still eluding his victory...the Mew of bugs has been taunting his dreams.  Essentially some hooks are still referring back to my old code branches.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel, in his seething anger to bring mass genocide to these bugs, he's incorporated more basic UI and proper menus now into the game (note that these are still proto menus as their final look will change significantly when we can create final art for them)

Emmanuel (BRKN HVN)

He's working on creating a new Shower sound fx.  Don't know why  I didn't think about that need at the time but you'll see why it's needed in future NSFW teaser post.
