I want to thank everybody who came to the virtual concert last night. It means the world to us.
I've been reading your comments...SO many compliments! Many said they thought this was best looking concert yet, so I thought it'd be fun to let you know exactly why: Money, time, and skill!
Money
I took a bunch of money from the last shows, and put it towards things like new (and more expensive) cameras. This has made a HUGE, and permanent difference to the quality of visuals. Suddenly everything looks Sharp, and...well, a little more like a fine art painting then a camera phone movie! The Go-pros we had been using just can't stand up to the mirrorless DSLRs were are switching too.
Time and Skill
I also spent weeks on programing the lighting. I've learned so much these last two years: when I first stared, I thought the job was to point lights at the band. Next I thought, "lights should move with the music!" As I got better, I thought the goal was to shine lights from behind the band at the cameras, which looks super cool, but then you can't see the band. Now I've reached the skill level where I'm painting fields of lights behind contrastingly lit band members, creating all these mini paintings. Teal wash behind and a tan face, Blue face in front of an orange wash, etc.
Anyway, its been a load of fun, SO THANK YOU! Thank you for supporting us, and keeping this going!
