Added 2024-04-03 16:46:14 +0000 UTCOn stage our most important instrument is the laptop Kristina uses. It plays all the drum tracks, it's the brain behind all Kristinas synths sounds, and it plays special effects here and there, like lightening bolts, or samples from old time radio shows.
If it dies, we are done for!! No Drums, and No Kristina means no Abney Park!
WELL, a little over a months AGO, IT DIED! The battery wouldn't hold a charge, which means you could only use it while plugged it. SO I backed up the hard drive, and we did a show with it, fingers crossed nothing would unplug it during the show!
The show went off perfectly, but maybe a week after that, it would turn on at all! Thanks god I made the backup.
Anyway, we were. in a panic, because we have a show NEXT WEEK! (I'm sure you know how unexpected bills of hundreds of dollars are no fun.)
Suddenly our paycheck from Patreon showed up! I went right out a bought a new laptop! so That was all due to your support! You guys keep Abney Park going, so thank you so much!
I remember the first Patreon check we got...the furnace in our house had gone out, during the winter, and we didn't have the thousands it would cost to get a new one. The Check showed up, and it was amazing. We bought a new furnace and had it installed that week.
