Don't know if you noticed the "punishment scars on Lan Wanji's back or the scar on his chest. The one on his chest is the exact same location where Wei Ying was branded by the Wen clan when they were in the cave. Not sure if the Donghua will cover how he got these scars or not, but I hope they do.

Chifeng-Zun, you mean 😁 It's ok and totally understandable; like I said, all these names and titles! *shakes fist* Not to mention that different people refer to others in different ways, some call others by their birth name, some by the courtesy name, some by their title and some by nickname....... Right now it's only mentioned, I don't know when exactly we'll learn more, especially because the novel and the donghua differ quite a bit. Wen Ning 😭😭

Luckily lan Zhan brother is getting abit more screen time so can tell them apart now ha. Thanks for taking the time to write this out, will look up some of the names tomorrow morning (in bed ATM) and do we see lianfang die in future flashback or is it only mention at that moment? looking forward to learning more about wen ning demise even if it going to be emotional to see 😭😭

#LilApple! Also, sorry for the probably massive comment I'm going to leave OTL You said that you want the badass clan leader to live (this isn't a spoiler because they said this in episode 15, but understandably bc everyone has a million names, it's easy to miss); he does die. The Lan Clan juniors tell this to Wei Ying while they're walking with him; that Lianfang-Zun (I'll explain his identity separately), Chifeng-Zun (aka Nie Mingjue aka badass clan leader of Nie Clan) and Zewu-Jun (aka Lan Xichen aka Lan Zhan's older brother & current Lan Clan leader) became sworn brothers during the Sunshot Campaign, and that Chifeng-Zun passed away due to qi deviation (the subbers explain this at the top when it's mentioned). Nie Mingjue is also Nie Huaisang's older brother. And Huaisang is the one in the dark green robe who hangs out with Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng in the earlier episodes when they're all still studying at the Cloud Recesses. Now, Lianfang-Zun. He is shown briefly in episode 14 (at 3:10), standing with Lan Xichen, named as Meng Yao. Next time we see him, is in this episode, when he stabs Wen Ruohan literally in the back, while he's busy dealing with Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue. THEN we see him in a very different look, with his hat and the Jin Clan's vermillion dot on his forehead, as the leader of the Jin Clan and talking with Lan Xichen (the Lan Clan juniors namedrop him as Jin Guangyao, and Lan Xichen calls him A-Yao, an affectionate nickname). The Lan Clan juniors also say to "Mo Xuanyu" that he is his half-brother. I'M SO SORRY FOR THIS HUGE INFO DUMP. Unfortunately for people new to Chinese media, a lot of these things are kind of assumed that a viewer will pick up on, and of course people like me who have read the novel and watched the donghua already, it's much easier. Hopefully my comment helps you more than it confuses you! Now a couple smaller things! I watched your reaction to episode 15 and this episode back to back, so I don't remember when you said that you have a hard time telling the Lan brothers apart, here's a trick! The obvious is that Lan Zhan's long bangs come over his headband and close to the front of his forehead, and his older brother has parts of long hair that come down from his temples. Their eyes are also quite different, but that's probably harder to pick up on. The intro song! It is the same song, BUT in the first season it's the first verse, and in this season, it's the second verse! And that is the end of my monstrous comment.
