The Luka / AD trade (Notebook drop)
Added 2025-02-02 10:30:01 +0000 UTCIt took a crazy trade for me to bring back a notebook drop! Part of me still thinks that Shams got hacked, and this trade makes no sense to me from a real-life NBA perspective, but here's how I've updated my projections based on what has happened:
Luka and LeBron’s assists go down a touch playing next to each other.
Reaves takes a big hit here. He was averaging 7+ assists since moving to PG, but Luka will take the ball out of his hands a lot.
Lakers have a massive hole at C. There’s short-term value with Hayes, but he’s not the long-term play for LA. Expecting another move coming before the deadline and some random big rebounding games from people until the hole is filled. Rui might pop off for some big games until Luka suits up and they play small before getting themselves another big.
Kyrie’s assists go up as the main ball handler in Dallas (how does he react to the trade?). AD will do some play making too.
Gafford’s value takes a big hit. Dallas can start AD at PF and go big with Washington at SF, but there’s no real need to give Gafford 30 minutes a night any more (he was averaging 30mpg over the past 2 weeks).

How does this trade go through? You have other NBA players speaking out about it. I mean, Gobert was traded with 4 picks, Marcus Smart cost Porzingis and 2 first round picks. Also, Doncic no longer qualifies for a Super Max. There claim of being out of shape and injury prone is crap. This one is getting done right before our eyes. Dallas only wanted AD? Just gotta be more.
