A lot of people don't like Maldus for some reason. I think he is a great villain and I don't have a problem with far out there energy beings like Maldus or Q. So long as their actions are internally consistent, I won't argue or speculate on the mechanisms that they use to manipulate thought, matter, and energy. And when they are as charismatic and arch as Maldus (or Q for that matter), I just enjoy having them wandering about chewing the scenery.
