Not sure if this is intentional or not but the calzone scene is actually pretty accurate. Grew up in the uws in nyc (the neighborhood the show takes place) and by the 1 train stop on 79th st (the apartment is on 85th st) there's a used book store (used to buy old comics there when I was little lol) and a liquor store right next door.

Otherwise he would have just kept the lying going instead of telling her before going inside with her. I know that's not how an heart examination goes, but I think it is a sweet and creative way of telling the story. Agree with what you said about Barney! I was sad when he didn't actually go inside, but I like that they showed a version of him going in - because it shows us what he really wanted, but he's just not ready yet. I think he really wishes he went in but he's not brave enough/scared to mess it up. It's all very new to him. He tried with Robin, but since then he hasn't been vulnerable with anyone, so it's a big deal. I think his feelings are both confusing him and scares him. But at least he was able to picture this, it's a big step! This show is great at keeping running gags, such as the sandwhiches
