I actually think the show gets worse as it goes on (I watched unit lthe end of season 3), the first season was mostly fine but as it went on it felt like the writers were too much in love with their own writing and thought they were clever when they arguably weren't. Sherlock surviving the Reichenbach fall and making everyone believe he was dead was complete nonsense for example, the story made no sense and all of that was glossed over "because Sherlock!". About the queerbaiting, it doesn't actually matter that Watson always shoots down the idea of them being a couple, the show still brings it up and plants it in the audience heads and winks at them. Doing it for comedy makes it arguably worse because at least to me being gay isn't a joke, it also plays into the stereotype that men who have an emotional connection must be gay because "real men don't do that". But I'm also not trying to tell you that you cannot or should not enjoy the show, if you like it that's perfectly fine. It was popular so clearly many people liked it and there's nothing wrong with it. I just really, really didn't like it and thinkElementary does it better.

Though somehow I still kept watching so something was done right😅😅 This series Sherlock is my favourite adaptation. I think the writing is just amazing. The acting from some of the worlds most respected actors is amazing to watch. And I also disagree with the queer baiting. It’s always been fan fiction with Sherlock and Watson. From the very first episode Watson made clear that he is NOT gay. So it’s purely for comedy when for instance mrs Hudson thinks Watson is gay or they are boyfriends. It is always immediately shot down by Watson, so there’s no “wonder if they’ll become boyfriends”. That is just simply not the case. Maybe you are thinking about the fan fictions?🤔 Because it was CRAZY how people were shipping them. As for not explaining how he knows things, I too disagree. They show the deductions every time. Of course it’s unrealistic but they do explain. Much more so than elementary (not that elementary needs to, it was just to compare). But all of this is of course just my opinion, and I’m not trying to change yours! Just wanted to share my point of view :) -And have you’ve seen the whole show? Because it really gets better each season. And to me personally the last season’s writing is beyond legendary! (But don’t blame if you didn’t watch all, because if you didn’t like the show it makes sense not to continue)

The writing is awful, Sherlock is completely unlikable and I have no idea why Watson doesn't just walk away from this non existing "friendship", the writing is awful because the writers have no idea how to write smart people, Sherlock never acts smart, he acts smug and just knows things from the vaguest hints that don't really make sense and the show often doesn't even explain things, it's often just "Because Sherlock!". As a gay man I'm also annoyed by the queerbaiting, it's just bad writing. Elementary was so much better, better Sherlock, better Watson, better writing, better everything.
