You asked about Thai nicknames, right? In Thailand names are used for things like documents and legal stuff, while they use their nicknames for everything else. Nicknames can be changed and can be any word with any meaning from any language. A person who's formally introducing him/herself would say their nickname first, and then their name and surname. Surnames are usually very long because every family has a unique one and needs to make sure no other family has it. You can keep your family surname when you start your own family, but you can also change it and create a new one. Example: Barcode (Porchay's actor), he's called Barcode Tinnasit Isarapongporn, being Barcode his nickname, Tinnasit his name and Isarapongporn his surname. It just feels so real and mature and something else I love about it is that it feels like the series has such a positive view of humanity, it might sound a bit silly but the series really shows how even though people are flawed and make mistakes in the end most of us are still good people trying our best. And since you asked about Thai names, I'm no expert but yes, as you mentioned Thai people all (or almost all) have nicknames which are the names they use in everyday life and which can be any word in Thai or another language which is why a lot of actors and characters have names that might sound a bit unusual to non-Thai people, and then they have their legal first and last names which are the ones shown in the credits for example.

2023-05-26 07:51:13 +0000 UTCyes, like the previous comment said, the beer isn't a sponsor but the design of the can was made specifically for this series! it fits the colour palette for the series and it's called Full Moon, and there's a rabbit in the design too, which in a lot of Asian folklore is what can be seen on the moon like Wen mentioned earlier in the episode. Another link could also be Tu'er Shen (The Rabbit God) from old Chinese folklore, which is a name for the god and safeguarder of male homosexuality. a lot of Thailand and Thai culture have Chinese influences as well as a large population with Chinese descent, and a lot of that can be seen in this series (ex. Jim runs a Chinese (Hainanese) diner). the intro song is also in Chinese as you know, but another aspect of it is that it's a cover of a very very famous Chinese love song from the 70's which literally has the title 'The Moon Represents My Heart'! apparently it's "one of the most famous and beloved Chinese songs of all time".

2023-05-26 06:20:30 +0000 UTCThis day keeps getting better, this afternoon Bad Buddy Our Skky special trailer and now Moonlight Chicken reaction ππ I'm so hyped for your reactions to this series!!! Yes many familiar faces, Earth and Mixx, First (but he shows up later), Kaothung (who was the chief's son in Thousand stars as well as Tian's friend). Yes, you recognized View who was Carrot in Blacklist π and one you haven't recognised but he was in Bad Buddy, Mark who plays Leng, the guy who also works at the restaurant, and lends his byke to Li Ming (Jim's nephew). Mark played Chang in Bad Buddy, one of Pat's friends. But when you'll start My School President, you'll recognise 3 actors from Moonlight Chicken π The way this series is directed by P'Aof (same director as BB and 1000 stars) feels so natural, alive and fresh. The first scene at the restaurant was shot in one take and the dynamic of the scene is so fast paced, it feels like watching a real scene and not a series. The music is also really good for setting the ambiance during each othe the scenes. The intro song is not in Thai but Chinese and it's the 6 main actors who sing it, Earth, Mixx, Fourth, Gemini, Kaothung and First. It's such a beautiful song. You also noticed the moon was quite present this episode, mainly because this episode is set on the Moon day festival (not sure if it's the acual name) and that's the festival they're praying for at the beginning. Another reason might be because Wen and Jim met at night and lots of their important moments this episode happened at night (meeting, the one night stand, Wen coming back to the restaurant and getting hired). And no, the beer is not sponsored XD the cat food is lol The way the story starts between Wen and Jim is definitely not what we usually see in BLs. It's an interesting take and the acting in the intimate scene is so good. By the way, did you notice they did not kiss? P'Aof insisted on that and the focus on the sex rather than the romance, because as Gong says later, one night stands are about sex only. But, when they filmed the scene, Earth and Mixx did kiss and they showed it in the behind the scenes. One thing for sure, their chemistry has grown a lot since 1000 stars. The side characters are really interesting too and I can't wait for you to see more of all of them, especially Li Ming and Heart. Fourth and Gemini were quite young, 17 and 18, when they filmed this series but they're such promising young actors. Leng expalins that Heart became deaf 3 years ago because of a desease.People with hearing disabilities can speak but often don't because they can't hear their own voice. And some even stop and then with the lack of using their voice, it's too hard to try talking again. Moonlight Chicken was part of the Midnight Series which had 2 other series "Midnight Motel", more like a thriller and suspense drama, and "Dirty Laundry" chaotic comedy series (with Nanon in one of the main roles). The series are not linked but they focus on the poorer part of the society in Thailand, on characters who are poor and live a difficult life and dream of escaping the hardships. All 3 series were good but Moonlight Chicken was definitely on another level. But if you want a good laugh and something to watch and not think, Dirty Laundry is pure crack and so funny. And Midnight Motel has Off as the main character (Sean from Not Me) and it's a really good story too. I personally loved all 3 series :) I can't wait for your future reactions to this series. And also looking forward to My School President and how you'll react when you'll recognise some actors in it too ;)
