Actually the flashbacks are not that weird. For example in that first scene Dean (current life) was eating the omelet Korn (past life) never got to eat. If you notice Dean has been having a craving for omelets all this time, and Pharm said the very first dish he ever made (being a very young child) was an omelet. So it's not difficult to guess Korn never had the chance to eat that promised omelet.
